Yanks sweep Sox

by Dan Bilicki In: Baseball

Thanks to some damn good pitching for Chien-Ming Wang, the Yankees brought out the brooms and swept the Red Sox to gutter outside the House That Ruth Built. In the process of winning his 16th game of the year, Wang carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning when Mike Lowell finally hit a single [...]

The Yi Era begins

by Dan Bilicki In: Basketball

Yesterday the Milwaukee Bucks were finally able to get their 2007 draft pick to sign on the dotted line. Yi Jianlian, the Bucks ill-advised first round pick, has finally agreed to suit up for the team that he had previous said he didn’t want to play for. It made absolutely no sense that the Bucks [...]

Races galore!

by Dan Bilicki In: Baseball

An interesting stretch of games started yesterday in Major League Baseball with five division leaders facing off against their respective number twos.
In the Bronx, the Yankees trumped the Red Sox 5-3 with a solid performance from Andy Pettitte. Also, have you seen this Joba Chamberlain kid pitch for the Yanks? This guy is going to [...]

MLB Notebook 8/28

by Dan Bilicki In: Baseball

With the wild card races really starting to heat and developments cropping up every day it seems, I would be remisce to not mention a few every once in a while.
Chase Utley’s back and with a bang. The Phillies second baseman that had been sidelined with a broken hand for over a month now, made [...]

A new Dream Team?

by Dan Bilicki In: Basketball

Team U.S. is starting to really look like their counterparts of old. This year’s incarnation featuring a starting five of Lebron, Kobe, ‘Melo, Kidd and Dwight Howard have looked simply unstoppable. Thorugh the first round of the tournament, they’ve utterly destroyed their competition. Yesterday, they wrapped up the opening round with another blow out win, [...]

Vick: Not Guilty?

by Dan Bilicki In: Football

The latest development in the Michael Vick dog-fighting case is probably the most intriguing yet. It looks like when Vick enters his guilty plea on Monday, he will not admit to killing any dogs or gambling on the fights. This brings up a whole load of questions in my mind; namely, how will this affect [...]

Everything’s bigger in Texas

by Dan Bilicki In: Baseball

You have to feel bad for the Orioles fans that went to the first game of yesterday’s double-header. After going down 3-0 in the first three innings, the Texas Rangers exploded for, well, a few runs. When it was all said and done, the Rangers walked away with a 30-3 win. That’s right, they scored [...]

Canada vs. Russia… again

by Dan Bilicki In: Hockey

For anyone who realized that this so called “Super Series” is starting next week, congratulations, you’re one of few. This little match up that pits the former bitter hockey rivals is a cheap sham of a marketing ploy and it’s not working because hardly anyone is paying attention. But the fact that nobody cares might [...]

Vick pleads

by Dan Bilicki In: Football

The Michael Vick dog-fighting saga is coming close to an end it seems. Yesterday he agreed to plead guilty to federal dog-fighting conspiracy charges that mean he will serve time in prison. According to the agreement with the district attorney, Vick will serve somewhere in between a year and 18 months in prison.
Needless to say, [...]

More trouble in Atlanta

by Dan Bilicki In: Football

If it wasn’t bad enough that their starting quarterback and face of their franchise is considering a guilty plea on dog-fighting charges, one of their backups is going to be on the sidelines this season.
It looks like D.J. Shockley –my boy- tore his ACL in the Falcons pre-season victory over Buffalo on Friday night. Shockley [...]
