A change of pace

by Dan Bilicki In: Football

Well, since no major female athletes have retired since my last post, I’m pretty thin on subjects. Well that was at least until Ricky Williams reared his pot-addled head.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with NFL arrest news, about two weeks back, Bears running back Cedric Benson was arrested for boating while intoxicated and resisted arrest, leading to some pepper-spraying. “Combative,” is the word the police used to describe Benson during the incident.

Now, Ricky Williams has said that he declined an invite to be on that boat and if he had been there, he would’ve calmed the situation.

“I find I have a calming influence on people I’m around.” Williams said.

I would like to know what exactly Ricky meant by calming influence. This man has been busted on Marijuana violations so many times in the past, he was exiled to Canada for a year. Having Ricky on board that boat might have only led to further charges after this random check.

And one last thing I want to know, how could anybody ever pass your standard field sobriety test while on a boat in water? Standing on one foot or walking a straight would be pretty damn hard sober.
