Does it count?

Quick thought after reading that Jon Lester threw a no-hitter for the Red Sox tonight: Should it count if it comes against the Royals? Sure they are the laughingstock that they used to be they should still be considered nothing more than triple-A calibre squadron.

Also, how many people care that this was the 18th Red Sox no-hitter in MLB history and it was the first one by a lefty in 52 years? Is this really top of the story, front page of ESPN material? You have to think that either the Red Wings advancing to the Stanley Cup finals might take precedent over Lester. What about that huge game 7 that took place between the Spurs and Hornets? I’m thinking that there might have been a Red Sox Nation working in Concord for that shift.

It is a great story though; coming back from cancer last year to play at this high of a level is nothing short of spectacular. Let’s see if he can take that kind of performance and duplicate it against a real team, the Tampa Bay Rays even.
