The Intern’s Olympic Hard Wood

by The Intern In: Basketball, Olympics

Since Dan likes to rain on my parade, it looks like I am going to have to put my summer on hold and write down my predictions for the Olympic Basketball. I was all about team USA and I thought for sure they were going to bulldoze their way into the gold medal game, but this was before the ugly win on Tuesday night against the Aussies, who, mind you were missing Andrew Bogut. I don’t think the apparent Dream Team II plays sufficient team defence to win gold.

On that note, onto my predictions for the medalists, starting with the bronze. This is a real tossup. It’s either going to be Greece or Argentina. Since Argentina is down one Manu and I find Greece to be the most complete team in the games, I’m going to give Greece the nod. I am totally going to go out on a limb but I think the Spaniards are going to take gold. Now my justification for this is simple. Spain has superior chemistry and I love taking the underdog. That leaves the silver for the States and disappointed bunch of NBAers. Now that I’ve got that out of the way I can get back to watching American Psycho.

Note from Dan: If putting your summer on hold means pausing American Psycho to write for 15 minutes, that’s a pretty sad summer. I’ll take Spain for gold, Argentina for silver and U.S. for bronze. No love for the Iranian team.
