Thanks for Giving us these games

I may not be American, or live in the States, but I sure do love their Thanksgiving – I don’t even make a turkey either. Nope, it’s getting to sit back, relax and watch wall-to-wall NFL football while everybody else is at work. Yes, I’ll use a vacation day every year to watch the ’Boys play and throw down a couple of brews – it’s the least I can do to support my team on a day so packed with tradition.

I know that traditionally these games – especially those involving Detroit – aren’t the best quality. Well, what can you expect when guys have to play on one of their nation’s biggest holidays? Plus, they’re playing only days after their previous game and couldn’t possibly fully recover from that beating.

And game planning must go out the window to some degree with such little time to watch video and for coaches to prepare their teams.

The home teams are in CAPS and the lines are from Vegas.

DETROIT +7 over New England
The Patriots are the superior team, but the Lions can score enough to cover a line like this. Throw in the Pats suspect secondary and it’s more realistic to see a close score at the end of this one than a blow out.

New Orleans -4 over DALLAS
New Orleans has been rolling recently and the Cowboys pass defence may not be able to keep up with the Saints’ aerial attack. How will interim coach Jason Garrett fare on the short week? I don’t think so well against a true contender.

NEW YORK JETS -9 over Cincinnati
These are two teams that can only perform in towards the end of the game. But if the Bills can score 35 unanswered points against the Bengals, what can a blossoming offence do?

Last week: 9-6-0
This season: 87-70-5
