Big upsets in the NFL

And just like that, the two favourites went down. Yes, while many will claim they know what is going to happen in the wild world of the NFL, I’m sure that a select few would have chosen the two No. 6 seeds to defeat the two No. 1 seeds this past weekend.

While many probably weren’t too stunned about the Falcons fall against the Packers – who were only getting 2.5 points on the road from Vegas – who could have seen the Jets avenging their blowout loss from their previous visit to Foxborough? That 45-3 hammering was the biggest loss ever avenged in a playoff game.

It looks like the Jets really were able to backup their week of talking smack while the Patriots proved one thing that we all knew, but simply forgot in this game: You have to play defence to win in the playoffs. It’s true in every sport. The Jets were clearly better on the defensive side of the ball and that made up for their supposed lack of ability on the offensive side. Remember, any lacking team can look good against an inferior opponent.

So now as the playoffs roll on, we get two more rematches from the regular season that will surely leave fans happy. And I’m sure the NFL will be happy too with whoever comes out of the Conference Championships. After all, the Seahawks are out.

This week: 3-1
This playoffs: 5-3
