What’s up with Saturday night football + NFL Week 15 picks

by Dan Bilicki In: Football, Picks

This week we get our first taste of Saturday Night Football, with everybody’s favourite choke-artists, the Dallas Cowboys visiting the free falling Bucs. Don’t be surprised if/when Tampa Bay keeps things close and, or even has a chance to win, that seems to be Dallas’ M.O.

As a Cowboys fan, I could seriously do without all these down to the wire games. Sure, the excitement is nice, but at this point we all know how the movie ends — and we’re not the good guys.

Also, the worst thing about having this Saturday night program: The promos. During Thursday’s broadcast of the Atlanta-Jacksonville game, they actually called Dallas-Tampa Bay “a special presentation of Thursday Night Football.”

Umm, why not just call it what it is: Saturday Night Football!

The lines are from bodog and the home teams are in CAPS.

TAMPA BAY +7 over Dallas
Just read the first two paragraphs of this post.

Green Bay -14.5 over KANSAS CITY
How nice of the Chiefs to let Romeo Crennel show what he can do in his debut while facing the best team in years.

MINNESOTA +7 over New Orleans
With Adrian Peterson likely returning, it’s hard to back the Saints here on the road.

CHICAGO -3.5 over Seattle
It’s one thing to back Tarvaris Jackson against the terrible Rams at home, it’s a whole other when he’s visiting the Bears’ defence.

Miami (NL) over BUFFALO
Sure, they fired their coach and Matt Moore is concussed, but the Bills are even worse.

Carolina +7 over HOUSTON
The Texans are so injury-ravaged that they’re even losing coaches now. With the division locked up, they can afford to coast a little bit.

Tennessee -7 over INDIANAPOLIS
Chris Johnson, this is your week to shine after letting down everyone again lat week.

Cincinnati -7 over ST. LOUIS
The Bengals are on the verge of falling out of the playoff race and desperately need this one.

OAKLAND +1.5 over Detroit
The Raiders are just a game back for the AFC West and are very tough at home.

New England -7 over DENVER
Against the Patriots, Tim Tebow cannot afford to coast through the first three quarters.

New York Jets +3 over PHILADELPHIA
It kills me that somehow the Eagles are still in playoff contention, but this is when they’ll stick the final dagger in their fans’ hearts.

Cleveland +7 over ARIZONA
This one has ‘defensive battle’ written all over it. Especially with both starting QBs concussed. Parlay this with the ‘under.’

Baltimore -3 over SAN DIEGO
Many people complained about the Pats-Broncos game not being flexed to Sunday night, but what exactly is wrong with this game?

SAN FRANCISCO (NL) over Pittsburgh
What is more important to the Steelers: Trying to track down the Ravens for the division title and a bye or making sure that Big Ben is healthy for January?

This week: 1-0
Last week: 12-4
This season: 105-99-2
