The true Giants of Major League Baseball

Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants, the latest team to win a North American sporting title and crown themselves the world champions.

All jokes aside though, the Giants truly deserved their World Series sweep. They were clearly the better team compared to Detroit Tigers.

In fact, the Giants and Tigers were a contrast in another way too: How they built their teams.

San Francisco had a bunch of outcasts and role players who played above their pay grades when their team needed it. Detroit famously went out and spent big money on free agent Prince Fielder in an attempt to win it all now.

In the end, we saw which team won, which type of players came through in the clutch and really which team deserved the title more.

Now the question is: Can the Giants be a dynasty?

Sounds odd for an underdog team like this, right? Well the Giants have now won two titles in three years and the core of the team — Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval, Matt Cain and ace-turned-shutdown-reliever Tim Lincecum — has remained generally the same.

Well, this will be something we’ll be hearing about next year around this time if the Giants can replicate their amazing runs of 2010 and ’12. So, we’ll see when we get there.
