Is the NFL actually getting safer?

by Dan Bilicki In: Football, Picks

Did that really just happen? Did we just get through an entire week of NFL football with only one major player getting seriously hurt?

Sadly, that’s an improvement.

Sure, it sucks that the Steelers have lost centre Maurkice Pouncey, but at least he was the only player to suffer a torn ACL in Week 1.

Being the Sun’s fantasy football writer, my bread and butter are those usual Week 1 injuries – but don’t worry about me, I’ll get by.

There weren’t any reported concussions either. Another piece of great news.

So, is the league getting actually safer? It’s a small sample size, but that might actually be the case.

Of course, Week 2 could roll around and we’ll see guys going down left and right. But for now, I’m hopeful that we can get through at least a few more weeks before injury reports start filling up with the names of the sport’s stars.
