It’s the end of Thursday night football – for 2013

It’s finally over. Thank God, it’s finally over.

Tonight’s division matchup between the Broncos and Chargers will be the last Thursday nighter of the season – hallelujah!

At least it’s a game with meaning and will have a direct impact on the playoff race for both teams. These AFC West division rivals may be in different positions in the standings heading in, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be going all out for the win.

The Chargers are one of the many teams in the midst of the logjam for the final AFC wild-card spot. They’re a game behind the Ravens and Dolphins and tied with the Jets at 6-7. They’ll probably have to win out, seeing as they lose the tiebreaker to Miami due to a Week 11 loss.

If San Diego can somehow clamp down on defence – especially against the pass – it will be a fun team to watch playoffs, as opposed to those other plodding squads.

The Broncos, on the other hand, could afford to take it easy. They’ve all but sewn up the division thanks to their two wins over the Chiefs and are a game up on the Patriots, who just keep getting hit with crucial injuries.

A first-round bye is almost definite, but a win would put them that much closer to clinching home-field advantage.

So who do you take? Well a month ago Denver went to SoCal and beat the Chargers by eight, why wouldn’t they be able to win by 10 at home with San Diego travelling on a short week?

Pick: DENVER -10 over San Diego

Last week: 8-6

This season: 96-100-9
