Since it’s snowing like crazy here and my driveway is in desperate need of shovelling, I’ll make this quick. Apparently the Detroit Red Wings aren’t the smartest team in hockey since they’re pulling off a bone-headed move. Sure, it sounds nice that they’ll have Henrik Zetterberg locked up for life with a 12-year, $72-million contract extension, but he’s already 28! Do they think that when he turns 40, he’ll still be a $7-million player? I’ve already written about how stupid these mega-deals are so I want waste too much time on this silly matter. Here’s what I wrote after the Lightning signed Vinny Lecavalier to a mega-deal and just look what’s happening now: They’re trying to trade him away.
