After last night’s action in Major League Baseball, Boston Red Sox slugger/folk hero David Ortiz now has one less home runs than Houston Astros veteran pitcher Russ Ortiz. That’s right, a spot starter who didn’t even play last season hit a home run last night. Big Papi, on the other hand, went 0-for-3 to drop his batting average this season to .203. He’s yet to homer in 133 at bats.
For the record, Russ Ortiz now has seven career home runs and last night’s jack was his first since 2003.
Also, I’m not saying that Big Papi was using performance enhancers, but the numbers clearly show that his numbers have decreased significantly since the MLB started their tougher testing standards.
