Just when we thought we were out…

…Brett Favre pulled us right back in.

Seriously? Do I have to write about Brett Favre again? I had I really hoped that this saga was all over and good ol’ Brett could have just made the next step and signed on to one of the many already over-crowded pre-game shows. I’m sure Peter King would have loved to debate with him every Sunday night.

But no, Mr. Packer decided he wanted to play again, and for the Vikings of all teams.

Is there anyone out there besides Favre and some of his teammates that is happy about this move?  Vikings fans are now being forced to embrace a player that they hater for more than a decade and led their rival to the Super Bowl. Packers fans have to deal with one of their franchise’s best players joining their rival in a bid to take them to the top of the division. And Jets fans simply won’t care, they’ve got Mark Sanchez now.

What is the best case scenario for Vikings fans? If they win the Super Bowl, then Packers fans can still gloat that they needed a legendary Packer to do it. If they flame out, they’ll be upset with management over taking on the aging Favre instead of trusting in their current QB core. It’s lose-lose, even if they win it all! I hate to say it, but the best case scenario for Minnesota may be having Favre go down early in the season, playing Sage Rosenfels and leave the cards were the lay.
