Tony Romo, what the hell are we going to do with you? One Sunday you’re the goat, the next you’re a saviour, the next a warrior and finally back to being the goat. There’s simply just no in between with you.
It’s hero or bust and on Sunday, it was definitely bust.
Throwing two pick sixes – including one to former Cowboys wash-out linebacker Bobby Carpenter – in one quarter was simply brutal. Leading the biggest collapse in Cowboys history by choking away a 24-point, second-half lead is now something that will forever be on your resume.
I’m not sure how this can be the same guy that marches down the field for a game-tying score in San Francisco. The composure looked completely different and against the 49ers, that was with a newly broken rib and freshly punctured lung.
I’m not sure what the Cowboys can do about this, but these rollercoaster rides can really make fans sick to their stomachs. There’s only so many times we can watch Romo walk off the field with his chin strap undone and that look on his face.
It’s not entirely fair to blame Romo for all this, but it is true that he provided the Lions with 14 points via the INTs. And can you blame the Cowboys defence for given up those TDs to Calvin Johnson? The man was triple-covered on one of them and simply just a freak of athletic nature.
