There are a lot of big lines this week, which makes for interesting dilemmas about which heavy dogs to take. There has also been a strange trend involving teams coming off of bye weeks which is, well, they’re just not winning. So that makes this week a little tricky to predict. And if you can nail all of the five double-digit lines, well good on you, you deserve a nice prize.
The home teams are in CAPS and the lines are from 5Dimes
Indianapolis +10 over TENNESSEE
The Colts couldn’t possibly get embarrassed two weeks in a row. Plus, Matt Hasselbeck is a big step down from Drew Brees.
HOUSTON -11 over Jacksonville
You can’t say this will be close just because it’s a division game – we all saw last week’s blow out of the Titans. Can the Jags really keep this close?
Minnesota +3 over CAROLINA
There is no doubt that Christian Ponder makes the Vikings a better team. Plus Adrian Peterson will roll here.
New Orleans -15 over ST. LOUIS
I won’t be surprised when the Saints put another massive number on the board. They scored more points last week than the Rams have all season.
Arizona +14 over BALTIMORE
Kevin Kolb is running out of time to step up and show what he can do. The Cardinals fans are turning on him really quick. Plus, Baltimore looked really bad on Monday night.
Miami +11 over NY GIANTS
Eli Manning just doesn’t perform well as a big favourite at home. Plus, he’s coming off vacation.
BUFFALO -7 over Washington
This may not be a true home game, with the Bills hosting in Toronto, but the Redskins just got super banged up last week.
Detroit -3 over DENVER
I don’t care that the Lions can’t really run the ball, or are a “dirty†team. They’re still better than Tim Tebow and Co.
New England -2.5 over PITTSBURGH
The Patriots have owned the Steelers – even in Pittsburgh – for a while now.
SAN FRANCISCO -9.5 over Cleveland
The Niners are legit and the Browns just somehow won a game while only scoring six points.
SEATTLE +1.5 over Cincinnati
The Bengals are coming off a bye, travelling to one of the toughest places to play and still have a rookie QB.
PHILADELPHIA -3.5 over Dallas
The Eagles are coming off a bye, which isn’t a great thing, but the Cowboys might be feeling a bit overconfident after destroying the Rams.
KANSAS CITY +4 over San Diego
The Chargers haven’t looked all too impressive yet this season and the Chiefs always play them extra tough.
Last week: 8-5
This season:Â 50-51-2
