The NFL goes right down to the wire

As a Cowboys fan, I hate the fact that the team’s season is coming down to the final game of it all. Especially against the Giants, who just came back in the fourth quarter to beat the Cowboys in Dallas in Week 14 thanks to a blocked field goal.

You just get the feeling that in a game between two teams that choke all the time, Dallas is the most likely to cough up the playoff spot tonight.

Even though the Giants have a history of underperforming at home – especially when they’re favoured – I can’t see this Dallas team defending their receivers in the elements.

They’ve showed that they’re incapable of holding onto a lead and also incapable of winning games on Sundays in prime time. They’ve set team records for blowing leads in the second half this season.  They’ve lost all three Sunday night games they’ve played.

Even if Tony Romo and company can get a lead, I won’t stop holding my breath until the final whistle. But it’s too bad that the game will probably be settled before that point.

The lines are from 5Dimes and the home teams are in CAPS.

Washington +9.5 over PHILADELPHIA
Bill Simmons brought up the interesting point that by losing this game, the Eagles will get an easier schedule next season. That’s good enough for me to take the points.

ATLANTA -13 over Tampa Bay
The Bucs are terrible. The Falcons are headed to the playoffs and want the No. 5 seed. This one could get ugly.

San Francisco -12 over ST. LOUIS
The Niners need this one and the Rams need the No. 1 pick in the draft.

MINNESOTA (pk) over Chicago
Joe Webb is the new Tim Tebow. Josh McCown is the new Josh McCown.

GREEN BAY (+3) over Detroit
Is it wrong to think that Matt Flynn and the super-deep Packers have a decent shot to cover at home?

Carolina +9.5 over NEW ORLEANS
Cam Newton is just plain incredible and I can’t see the Saints playing their starters if they see the Niners jump out big against the Rams.

HOUSTON +2.5 over Tennessee
Wade Phillips is back to run the defence, which means that Chris Johnson might not get those 14 yards to reach 1,000 this season.

Baltimore (pk) over CINCINNATI
The very fact that the Bengals had to plead with their fans to show up to this game means that they can’t be trusted.

Pittsburgh (NL) over CLEVELAND
The Steelers don’t need Big Ben to beat the Browns; Charlie Batch will do just fine.

Indianapolis +3.5 over JACKSONVILLE
Can you really believe that the Colts are going to blow the Andrew Luck sweepstakes because Dan Orlovsky is actually competent?

New York Jets +1.5 over MIAMI
We know that the Jets are chokers this season, but they have to win with everything on the line, right?

NEW ENGLAND -11.5 over Buffalo
The Patriots need to win to ensure that they get home-field advantage. They will also want revenge for losing in Buffalo earlier this season.

OAKLAND -2.5 over San Diego
Can you really expect the Chargers to play hard when they know their GM and head coach are probably out of their jobs?

DENVER -3.5 over Kansas City
Kyle Orton will try for his revenge on Tebow and Co., but that won’t happen. The man upstairs has a thing against vengeance.

ARIZONA -1.5 over Seattle
If Early Doucet didn’t trip over air in the endzone last week, then we might be talking a lot more about John Skelton’s comeback-ability.

NY GIANTS -2.5 over Dallas
Read the intro. Ugh.

Last week: 10-6
This season: 123-112-2
