Week 17 picks

The lines are from Vegas and the home teams are in CAPS.

BUFFALO +3 over New York Jets

Rex Ryan will be back next year for the Bills, but he still has to show why. With his former team coming to town on the brink of the playoffs, Buffalo should be aching to play spoiler.

Tampa Bay +10.5 over CAROLINA

The Panthers finally lost one last week and this could be another trip-up game for the Cats. The Bucs would love to stun their rival to end the season.

MIAMI +10 over New England

The Pats should be resting guys here and can you really turn down 10 points at home for a team that some jobs on the line?

Baltimore +9 over CINCINNATI

The fact that the Bengals may be down to their third-string QB is what pushes us in this direction. Also, John Harbaugh sure can coach up his guys and knows his division rivals well.

ATLANTA -4 over New Orleans

This one should be a very high-scoring game. Neither team has anything but pride at stake and this could be Drew Brees’ last game with the Saints.

Jacksonville +6.5 over HOUSTON

The Texans essentially have the division clinched, so you have to wonder how long their key players will be out there.

Pittsburgh -10.5 over CLEVELAND

After last week’s embarrassment, you have to think the Steelers will be fired up to smoke the Browns.

Oakland +6.5 over KANSAS CITY

After watching the Chiefs squeak one out against the Browns, why wouldn’t you think Oakland could cover this one?

INDIANAPOLIS -6 over Tennessee

The Colts put themselves in this situation where they don’t control their own destiny. At least they’ll get a win against the flagging Titans.

Washington +3.5 over DALLAS

When you remember that Kellen Moore will be QBing the Cowboys this week again, you can forget about any advantage gained from Washington resting guys.

CHICAGO -1 over Detroit

A lot of people are going with the Lions here, so let’s be a bit contrarian.

NEW YORK GIANTS -3.5 over Philadelphia

Will the Eagles step up and show what they can do now that Chip Kelly is gone? Nah, they’re probably on vacation already.

DENVER -9 over San Diego

The Broncos have something to play for while the Chargers are looking more like a circus and have next to no players left.

St. Louis -3.5 over SAN FRANCISCO

Will anybody watch this game? Lots of changes are in store for both teams.

Seattle +6.5 over ARIZONA

Even though the Cards have more to play for, the Seahawks will always compete – especially against a rival – and shouldn’t have trouble covering.

Minnesota +3 over GREEN BAY

This one’s for the division and should be a slobber knocker on Sunday night, but as much as you have to love Aaron Rodgers at home, I feel like an Adrian Peterson 175-yard game is looming.

Last week: 7-9

This season: 128-101-8
