The lines are from Vegas and the home teams are in CAPs.
CAROLINA -3.5 over Philadelphia
Not sure how much we learned from this Thursday nighter other than that Carson Wentz is capable of winning a tough game on the road and maybe the Panthers aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.
NEW YORK JETS +9.5 over New England
The Jets somehow have three wins this season and now go against a Pats defence that has been historically awful. We certainly don’t think that the Jets will come away with a win or anything, but can certainly pull off a back-door cover at home.
ATLANTA -11.5 over Miami
The Dolphins remain unimpressive, even in victory. The Falcons are coming off their bye and should be primed to put up a big number at home.
MINNESOTA +3 over Green Bay
If not for a big tactical error by the Cowboys last week, the Packers would be coming into this big rivalry game licking their wounds. Sam Bradford should be closer to normal this week after being pulled in Chicago, so we’ll take the points for the home dog.
San Francisco +10 over WASHINGTON
The Niners are winless on the season, but have lost the past four games by just 11 total points. If you’re going to be giving 10, that sounds like some decent math.
BALTIMORE -6.5 over Chicago
The Ravens’ home-field advantage in the past few years has been great and it might be asking too much of rookie Mitchell Trubisky to head to Baltimore and take down the Ravens.
Detroit +5.5 over NEW ORLEANS
After coming down to earth against the hot Panthers, the Lions now travel to New Orleans and will try to contain the high-scoring Saints. Detroit’s defence has a chance to do just that and we’ll happily take the points with a team that likes to keep things close.
HOUSTON -9.5 over Cleveland
Alas, we won’t be getting a Deshaun vs. DeShone matchup. The Texans lost some key pieces on defence, but Watson has the offence really humming. Getting Will Fuller back from injury makes them even more dangerous in the passing game.
Tampa Bay -2.5 over ARIZONA
Aging Adrian Peterson isn’t going to be the sparkplug that gets the Cards offence into gear. But between AP, Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald, this team would’ve been awesome eight years ago. The Bucs are coming off some extra rest and should get back to business.
JACKSONVILLE -2.5 over Los Angeles Rams
At the beginning of the season, who would’ve thought that a Jags-Rams matchup would be one of a week’s best games? Shockingly, the Jaguars lead the league in point differential and can stop almost anybody on defence. A travelling Jared Goff should have a lot of trouble.
KANSAS CITY -4.5 over Pittsburgh
Something’s not right with the Steelers and the undefeated Chiefs are not a team you try to figure things out against.
OAKLAND (NL) over Los Angeles Chargers
A potential return from Derek Carr would be a godsend for the Raiders, who looked awful with EJ Manuel under centre. The Chargers eked out a win in New York, but
DENVER -12 over New York Giants
The only fear I have is that the Broncos will have trouble putting up enough points against the Giants. But with New York’s complete lack of receivers, turmoil in the locker room and a bad head coach, this seems pretty safe.
TENNESSEE (NL) over Indianapolis
A potential Matt Cassel-Jacoby Brissett matchup would make for a terrible prime-time game. Luckily, Marcus Mariota should be back.
