The lines are from oddsshark.com and the home teams are in CAPs.
Kansas City -3 over DENVER
Joe Flacco was outdueled on his home turf with a far superior defence backing him by Matt Moore. How is John Elway so terrible at finding QBs? Also, the Chiefs are in deep trouble with Patrick Mahomes out.
GREEN BAY -5.5 over Oakland
The Packers got lucky with some atrocious officiating on Monday night, but Aaron Rodgers stepped up in a big way despite seeing his skill-position players drop like flies. The Raiders are lacking weapons in the passing game and should struggle to protect Derek Carr in the passing game.
San Francisco -10 over WASHINGTON
This has a trap game feel for the 49ers, but backing Washington against a strong defence is just far too tough. If you need some late luck to beat the Dolphins by one, it’s a bit much to think Washington will move the ball against San Francisco.
NEW YORK GIANTS -3 over Arizona
The Cards are somehow on a two-game winning streak, but that should end here. With the Giants looking to get back on track after losses to tough teams, we can see Danny Dimes and a returning Saquon Barkley pulling it off.
INDIANAPOLIS -1 over Houston
This battle for the top of the AFC South is about as close as they come. Deshaun Watson is getting MVP hype off his past two wins, but they came against teams that couldn’t pressure him. Indy is well-rested coming off their bye and T.Y. Hilton has potential to shred Houston’s defence and help his team keep pace.
DETROIT +2 over Minnesota
Let’s pump the brakes on the Vikings offensive rebirth. That came against an ailing Eagles secondary that is full of holes. Kirk Cousins struggles against good defences and the Lions certainly fit that description.
Jacksonville -3.5 over CINCINNATI
The Bengals defence was already fairly poor and it just lost its two starting CBs. The Jags are the superior team by far, even if Gardner Minshew has hit some stumbling blocks.
Miami +17 over BUFFALO
The Dolphins will definitely have problems moving the ball in Buffalo, but can the Bills put enough points on the board? This many points is just a bit much, even coming off a bye.
L.A. Rams -3 over ATLANTA
Just the recipe for Sean McVay to get his offence going again: A date with the Falcons and the return of Todd Gurley. The addition of Jalen Ramsey, while costly, should give a big boost to the defence as well.
L.A. Chargers +2 over TENNESSEE
Can Ryan Tannehill turn things around for the Titans? Maybe, but we’ll go with the experienced hand in Phillip Rivers, who is coming off a tough loss and is in desperate need of W.
Baltimore +3.5 over SEATTLE
Both QBs in this one have been incredible this season, with Russell Wilson getting plenty of well-earned MVP talk. But this one will likely be decided on the ground. The Seahawks have been a bit overhyped as a home favourite recently with a poor home record ATS. This one should likely be decided by a field goal.
New Orleans +3 over CHICAGO
The Bears are back from London and a bye should have Mitchell Trubisky under centre again. The problem is that the defence is still missing key pieces and the Saints have been looking great. The big concern with New Orleans is Alvin Kamara’s health, but Latavius Murray is capable of handling a decent load.
Philadelphia +3 over DALLAS
The Eagles pass defence is a big problem, but can the Cowboys exploit it? Amari Cooper is hurt and the Boys were already missing their two starting tackles. Heading into their bye week, things will likely be even bleaker looking for Jason Garrett and Co.
New England -10 over NEW YORK JETS
Is Sam Darnold going to make that much of a difference for the Jets against Bill Belichick, a coach that has an excellent history against them? Probably not, even with the Pats banged-up WR corps.
Last week: 7-7
