The lines are oddsshark.com and the home teams are in CAPs.
MINNESOTA -16 over Washington
It was close, but the Vikings couldn’t score on a last-minute drive deep into Washington’s zone. Also, that’s two straight games without a TD for Washington and its QB situation looks worse than ever.
CHICAGO -4 over L.A. Chargers
We don’t feel good betting either way. On one hand, there are the cursed Chargers, who find new, excruciating ways to lose every week it seems. On the other, it’s Mitchell Trubisky and a Bears team that hasn’t lived up to its billing. We’re thinking that Philip Rivers and Co. get gutted again.
NEW ORLEANS -10 over Arizona
The Cardinals have adapted their offence well despite some injuries and have beaten some of the league’s weakest teams. Against a Saints team that might have Drew Brees back (do they really need him for this one?), they’ll be coming up a much stronger opponent who should be able to exploit the Cards’ weaknesses.
Tampa Bay +2.5 over TENNESSEE
The Bucs have been solid against the run, which the Titans rely heavily upon to move the ball. Of course, Jameis Winston could easily give this one away on the road, but we’ll take the risk.
Seattle (NL) over ATLANTA
The Seahawks have an MVP candidate at QB and the Falcons might have Matt Schaub. That’s good enough to lay whatever you have to, even on the road.
Philadelphia +1.5 over BUFFALO
The Eagles have been decimated by the Cowboys and Vikings, but both of those teams used their deep passing games to take advantage of Philly’s secondary. Despite Josh Allen’s strong arm, he hasn’t been connecting on deep balls. The Bills have beaten up on some fairly mediocre competition and will have it tough in this one.
DETROIT -7 over New York Giants
The wheels have fallen off the Danny Dimes bandwagon and might get even worse. Detroit may be the worst team in the NFC North, but it is still leaps and bounds better than a Giants team that can’t stop anybody.
New York Jets +5.5 over JACKSONVILLE
The rose has kind of fallen off the bloom with Gardner Minshew. The Jets aren’t nearly as bad as the Patriots made them look and should want to prove themselves after that embarrassing beatdown.
L.A. Rams -13 over Cincinnati at London
The Rams got things moving in Atlanta last week and should keep them rolling against an equally horrible Bengals team.
INDIANAPOLIS -6 over Denver
The Broncos’ momentum was halted by the Chiefs last week, despite losing Patrick Mahomes. The Colts have advantages across the board while Denver is already selling off pieces.
Carolina +5.5 over SAN FRANCISCO
The Niners have handled all comers, but will have their hands full with the Panthers, who are coming off their bye. Christian McCaffrey is unlikely an weapon in the league, too.
Oakland +6.5 over HOUSTON
The Raiders were run over by the Packers last week, but haven’t looked too bad so far this season. The Texans lost a key piece in Will Fuller V last week and that could slow down the offence enough for Oakland to snag a late cover.
NEW ENGLAND -13 over Cleveland
Even with two weeks to prepare, we wouldn’t feel good about taking the Browns in Foxboro. The Pats defence should make a sloppy Baker Mayfield look like a fool, as he has most of the season. And Freddie Kitchens simply can’t hold a candle to Bill Belichick in terms of scheming.
Green Bay -4 over KANSAS CITY
The Chiefs offence with Matt Moore at the helm scares nobody. The thought of Aaron Rodgers scoring another six TDs should put some fear in Chiefs fans, considering how poor the team’s defence can be.
Miami +14 over PITTSBURGH
An honest question: Does Miami have the best QB in this game in Ryan Fitzpatrick? Mason Rudolph returns from his brutal-looking concussion, but hasn’t impressed in relief of Big Ben this season. The Steelers will win, but we’re not spotting this many points.
Last week: 9-5
This season: 62-43
