NFL Week 9 picks

The lines are from oddsshark.com and the home teams in CAPs.

Green Bay -5.5 over SAN FRANCISCO

Apparently when you’re down your starting QB, several RBs, most of your WRs and your star TE, it’s kinda hard to move the ball.

Carolina +10.5 over KANSAS CITY

The Chiefs are heading into their bye week and may have their eyes off the ball for this one. The Panthers get Christian McCaffrey back from injury and should be able to at least provide a backdoor cover.

MINNESOTA (NL) over Detroit

Dalvin Cook is a player capable of swaying games and the Lions run defence is in the league’s bottom third. The Lions are known to play close games, but with top WR Kenny Golladay out, they could have trouble matching points with Minnesota.

TENNESSEE -5 over Chicago

Both teams are in a funk, but the Titans look more likely to bounce back. Nick Foles isn’t separating himself from ex-starter Mitchell Trubisky, which is kind of damning.

Seattle -2.5 over BUFFALO

Josh Allen’s play has slowly been slipping since his hot start and while the Seahawks defence hasn’t been up to snuff, they should be getting Jamal Adams back to help.

ATLANTA -4 over Denver

The Broncos were the beneficiaries of the patented Chargers’ collapse last week and didn’t show much over the first half of the game. The Falcons are well-rested after their win last Thursday and have now taken two of their past three. Calvin Ridley’s injury is concerning, but Julio Jones has been spectacular when on the field.

INDIANAPOLIS +3 over Baltimore

When Darius Leonard plays, the Colts defence is on another level. It’s risky betting on Phillip Rivers in such a tough matchup, but the Ravens defence in the midst of a COVID panic and Lamar Jackson looking shaky against strong defences, the points may be prudent here.

Houston -7.5 over JACKSONVILLE

The Texans didn’t make any rash moves at the deadline and aren’t interested in tanking the season. The Jags, on the other hand, will be starting Jake Luton with Gardner Minshew injured.

New York Giants +3 over WASHINGTON

The Giants performed admirably against the Bucs on Monday night, but just keep making mistakes. It’s just too hard to stomach laying points to take Washington.

ARIZONA -4.5 over Miami

The Dolphins benefitted from their bye week to create a lot of turnovers and shut down Rams team that coach Brian Flores already somewhat knew how to do. The Cardinals now come off their bye week and will be well-prepared for the visitors.

Las Vegas +1.5 over L.A. CHARGERS

It’s hard not to be impressed with Justin Herbert and he has an excellent record as a starter against the spread. But, should he be favoured over a Raiders team that is flying under the radar as a wild-card contender? Maybe not.

Pittsburgh -14 over DALLAS

Whether it be Cooper Rush, Garrett Gilbert or Ben DiNucci starting at QB, the Steelers are going to eat the Cowboys alive on Sunday.

TAMPA BAY -5.5 over New Orleans

These teams are in different spots than they were in their Week 1 meeting. It was Tom Brady’s Bucs debut and he was frustrated over and over by the Saints defence. Now, the Bucs have found their stride and will get a boost from Antonio Brown’s debut while Michael Thomas remains questionable on New Orleans’ side of the ball.

New England -7 over NEW YORK JETS

The Patriots have all sorts of problems, but not nearly as many as the Jets.

Last week: 7-7

This season: 59-54-3
