The lines are from oddsshark.com and the home teams in CAPs.
Houston -3 over DETROIT
Will the Lions fire Matt Patricia now? They probably should.
DALLAS -3 over Washington
Well, that was embarrassing. Cowboys took one step forward last week only to take about dozen backwards.
PITTSBURGH -4.5 over Baltimore
Whenever this game is game, the Steelers are going to be fired up for it. Even in this bitter rivalry, the intensity should be turned up for the hosts and they’ll want to really put their foot down. They’re also the healthier and more talented squad, so this could get ugly.
MINNESOTA -3.5 over Carolina
The Vikings were derailed by Dallas last week and need to bounce back. Teddy Bridgewater returns after missing a game, but we’re not expecting the Panthers defence to pitch another shutout after a string of terrible performances.
INDIANAPOLIS -3 over Tennessee
The Titans suffered from terrible special teams in these teams’ previous meeting on a Thursday night. Indy has been grinding out games and looking decent while doing it. The Colts should complete the sweep of their AFC South rival.
Arizona -2.5 over NEW ENGLAND
We always check the weather in Foxborough for gamedays now and this Sunday is looking pretty decent. That should aid the Cardinals, who can’t afford to fall behind in the NFC playoff race.
Cleveland -7 over JACKSONVILLE
Not only are the Jags turning to Mike Glennon at QB, they’ve got some injuries adding up on their defence. The Browns could use this game to get their passing game back on track in anticipation of some bigger matchups on the horizon.
Miami -7 over NEW YORK JETS
Tua Tagovailoa’s benching in Denver is part of his learning process, which should only help him grow. The Jets couldn’t take advantage of some mistakes by the Chargers and just aren’t going to hang with the superior Dolphins.
Las Vegas -3 over ATLANTA
Whenever Julio Jones has been hobbled the Falcons offence has been awful. It’s tough taking a Raiders team flying east for an early start, but they’ve earned some respectability over this season.
New York Giants -6 over CINCINNATI
The Giants would have no business spotting this amount of points to pretty much anybody, but with the Bengals missing both Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon, it might actually be the right bet. New York comes off the bye and should be well prepared for the weak Cincy defence.
L.A. Chargers +5.5 over BUFFALO
This one should have all the ingredients for a back-and-forth shootout. The Bills pass defence leaves a lot to be desired and, with Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen on the other side, could easily be exploited. The Chargers defence will have its problems with a well-rested Bills team, too.
San Francisco +7 over L.A. RAMS
The Niners are getting healthier coming off their bye week and should be motivated to once again put a dent in their division rival’s playoff hopes. If anything, the points certainly help the decision here.
New Orleans -6 over DENVER
The Broncos now have a week’s worth of tape on Taysom Hill as a starting QB, but the bigger thing to consider is how well the Saints defence has been playing. New Orleans has allowed 25 points in its past three games and Drew Lock is a near-lock to turn the ball over.
TAMPA BAY +3 over Kansas City
This one’s not past Tom Brady’s bedtime, so that bodes well for the Bucs. Tampa will want to head into its bye week on a winning note and can’t afford to drop a third game out of their past four. The Chiefs were able to score a comeback win against the Raiders, but the Bucs defence is a step up.
Chicago +8.5 over GREEN BAY
Could Mitchell Trubisky actually provide a boost to the Bears offence? Well it’s not like Nick Foles was getting the job done. Even if the Bears offence struggles yet again, their defence has done yeoman’s work and could keep the Packers from blowing them out.
Seattle -5.5 over PHILADELPHIA
It’s Russell Wilson, it’s prime time and it’s an Eagles team that just can’t get out of its own way. Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson are looking more like frauds by the week and are hard to trust against a legitimate playoff team.
Last week: 5-8
This season: 71-79-4
