After the Jags and Jets nabbed the new faces of their franchises, the Niners bucked many reports and opted for Trey Lance over Mac Jones, who tumbled down the draft.
1.Jacksonville
Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
No surprise here. The Jags have been working on installing their offence with Lawrence since February.
2. New York Jets
Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
Another predictable pick here. All reports have had the Jets loving Wilson for the past couple of months.
3. San Francisco
Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
After all the reports of the Niners taking Jones, they go with the raw, dual-threat that will need some time.
4. Atlanta
Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
Falcons get their newest offensive weapon, but the bigger question now is what happens with Julio Jones?
5. Cincinnati
Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
The Bengals opt to reunite QB Burrow with his college teammate instead of getting some protection.
6. Miami
Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
Another WR reunited with his college QB. Waddle has speed for days and game-breaking ability.
7. Detroit
Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
The draft’s top lineman has all-pro potential and should anchor the Lions’ O-line for years to come.
8. Carolina
Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
The first big surprise of the draft, the Panthers take a corner after going all defence in last year’s draft.
9. Denver
Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
Even after adding a couple high-priced CBs in free agency, the Broncos take the super-skilled Surtain.
10. Philadelphia
DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
Give up a third-rounder to move up two spots and grab the Heisman Trophy-winning receiver.
11. Chicago
Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
Send a package of picks to the Giants to move up and grab their latest potential franchise quarterback.
12. Dallas
Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
Rated by some as the best defender in the draft, Parsons is everything you want as off-ball linebacker.
13. Los Angeles Chargers
Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
Had reportedly looked at trading up for a tackle, but stayed put and still nabbed the No. 2 O-line option.
14. New York Jets
Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT, USC
Move up nine spots in trade with Vikes to grab a versatile lineman to protect their new franchise quarterback.
15. New England
Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
Patriots patiently wait and grab their quarterback for the future, a drop-back passer that will fit right in their system.
16. Arizona
Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
A bit of surprise, but Collins is big, strong, fast and is a versatile piece for the Cards defence.
17. Las Vegas
Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama
Our biggest reach yet, but the Raiders needed to rebuild their O-line after several off-season departures.
18. Miami
Jaelen Phillips, DE, Miami
Dolphins take the draft’s first edge rusher, a talented player whose biggest red flag is concussion concerns.
19. Washington
Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky
Washington adds an excellent piece to put behind its vaunted defensive line and cause opponents nightmares.
20. New York Giants
Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
Not a popular pick, but Toney is an excellent playmaker with high-end speed that can also return punts.
21. Indianapolis
Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan
Pass rush was a big need for the Colts and they get a DE whose strength is probably more as a run defender.
22. Tennessee
Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
Despite badly needing a WR, took this incredibly talented CB with a history of back issues.
23. Minnesota
Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
We had the Vikings taking Darrisaw in their original draft slot at 14, but get great value for the tackle here.
24. Pittsburgh
Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
Sure, the Steelers need a new RB, but their offensive line will have trouble opening any hole for him.
25. Jacksonville
Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
The Jags seemingly weren’t satisfied taking one Clemson star, selecting Lawrence’s superstar running back.
26. Cleveland
Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern
The hosts of the draft add to their defence with a solid corner providing some young depth at the position.
27. Baltimore
Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
The Ravens add the draft’s fourth-best WR to help the Ravens in the passing game.
28. New Orleans
Payton Turner, DE, Houston
Impressed at the Senior Bowl, but we didn’t see many – if any – first-round grades on Turner.
29. Green Bay
Eric Stokes Jr., CB, Georgia
An excellent athlete with some decent potential, but is he better than UGA teammate Tyson Campbell?
30. Buffalo
Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami
Excellent in 2019, but saw his draft stock slide after a poor pro day and opted out of the 2020 season.
31. Baltimore
Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State
An incredible athlete that tested off the charts, but didn’t register a single sack in 2020 season.
32. Tampa Bay
Joe Tryon, DE, Washington
When you don’t have any holes on a Super Bowl-winning team, you can add some depth up front.
