The lines are from oddsshark.com and the home teams are in CAPs.
Carolina -8 over HOUSTON
Sure, the Panthers won the game, but losing Christian McCaffrey is going to hurt in the long run.
TENNESSEE -5 over Indianapolis
Even if Carson Wentz plays on two sprained ankles, how much do you really like his chances? Derrick Henry is as hard to stop as ever, which is a big problem for the AFC South.
L.A. Chargers +6.5 over KANSAS CITY
The Chargers lost in typical heartbreaking Charger fashion last week while the Chiefs left off the gas in that prime-time thriller against Baltimore. But the fact of the matter is the Chiefs are a public team that rarely seems to cover.
Washington +7.5 over BUFFALO
The Bills got it together against a Miami squad that looked discombobulated last week, but should have a tougher time with Washington. Taylor Heinicke should fare better with the few extra days of prep, too.
Chicago +7 over CLEVELAND
The Justin Fields era begins with a very tough matchup on the road. The Browns will try to run the ball down the Bears’ throat but their rushing defence has been solid so far this season.
NEW YORK GIANTS -3 over Atlanta
Laying points with Daniel Jones is a dicey proposition, but what have the Falcons done so far to make you believe in them?
Cincinnati +4 over PITTSBURGH
The debate is raging about Big Ben and if he’s holding the Steelers back. But the reality is that the backup plan if he can’t play isn’t much better. Pittsburgh is also dealing with some other key injuries heading into this one.
Baltimore -7.5 over DETROIT
The Lions aren’t going to go quietly in most games, but this is another case of the rebuilding squad just simply being outgunned again.
NEW ENGLAND -3 over New Orleans
This is a hard one to gauge for the Saints, who have the look of a Jekyll and Hyde team so far. The biggest thing we’re factoring in here is that they’ve essentially been on the road for three weeks now and New England is already a tough place to play.
Arizona -7.5 over JACKSONVILLE
The Jags have looked like one of the worst teams in football over the first two weeks, but that seems to be on par for this franchise. Kyler Murray is in MVP form and could make this a blowout.
LAS VEGAS -4.5 over Miami
Jacoby Brissett is a serviceable starting QB but he’s not the type to go on the road against a hot team and pull out a win. The Raiders and Derek Carr seemingly have it together, so let it ride on Vegas.
DENVER -10.5 over New York Jets
Zach Wilson got a rude awakening last week when the Pats had him seeing ghosts out there. The Broncos defence is on that same level and will also be playing with a strong home-field advantage.
L.A. RAMS +1 over Tampa Bay
Dare we bet against Tom Brady in record-seeking mode? The Rams might be the stiffest test the Bucs face this season and you can’t discount Brady perhaps peeking ahead a bit to next week’s showdown with the Pats.
MINNESOTA +2 over Seattle
The Vikings are 0-2 but actually haven’t been bad. With the way that the Seahawks defence got shredded by Henry in the second half last week, you have to worry that Dalvin Cook is in store for a huge game.
Green Bay +3.5 over SAN FRANCISCO
Aaron Rodgers got his groove back last week and should feel at home on the west coast. The injuries are adding up once again for the Niners as well.
Philadelphia +4 over DALLAS
The Cowboys once again look like a team with a ton of talent, but that just isn’t all there with decision-making and discipline. The Eagles always show up against their rivals, so we’ll happily take the points.
Last week: 6-10
This season: 16-16
