NFL WEEK 12 PICKS: The Bucs are back and that’s bad news for Brissett

The lines are from covers.com and the home teams are in CAPs.

Buffalo -9.5 over DETROIT

The Bills didn’t cover, but did become the first team to win two games in a row at Ford Field since 2016.

Dallas -9.5 over New York Giants

There’s nothing like a meaningless garbage-time score for the backdoor cover to really make Thanksgiving feel special.

New England +2.5 over MINNESOTA

Fans should be pretty happy with that exciting back-and-forth affair to cap off Thanksgiving Thursday.

Baltimore -4 over JACKSONVILLE

There has been a lot of criticism of Lamar Jackson recently, but when you look at the scoreboard, the Ravens are winning. Baltimore has won four straight despite Jackson’s “struggles,” while the Jags have only beaten the Raiders over their past seven games.

Denver -2.5 over CAROLINA

As hard as it may be to back this putrid Denver offence on the road as a favourite, there’s just no way to take Sam Darnold against the Broncos defence. This is going to be one of the ugliest games of the season and one to avoid at all costs.

Atlanta +4.5 over WASHINGTON

Remember when the Falcons were undefeated against the spread? Well they haven’t covered in weeks and are certainly due. Washington is somehow coming on as a possible playoff team, but the Falcons can keep this one close with Cordarelle Patterson leading the ground attack.

Tampa Bay -3.5 over CLEVELAND

The Bucs have already started to turn things around and are coming into this one with some extra rest on their side. This is Jacoby Brissett is a dead man walking as the Browns’ starter and the run game could have some difficulty against a resurgent Tampa defence.

Cincinnati -1.5 over TENNESSEE

The potential return of Ja’Marr Chase swings this one in the Bengals’ favour. While the Titans could be out for some revenge after last year’s playoff matchup, they won’t get it. Cincinnati will have to do a better job of keeping Joe Burrow upright, but should score a road win.

MIAMI -13.5 over Houston

Double-digit favourites have a poor record so far this season, but the Dolphins could very easily run up the score in this one. If the Dolphins jump out to an early lead, their running game can easily put this out of reach.

NEW YORK JETS -4.5 over Chicago

With it looking like Justin Fields won’t be on the field this Sunday, there’s no way to back the Bears. The Jets have done the right thing and benched Zach Wilson, which should give the offence a small boost, and the defence is among the league’s best. Without Fields to potentially unlock it, Chicago is hopeless.

SEATTLE -3.5 over Las Vegas

The Raiders somehow put up 22 points against Denver’s vaunted defence and will have another tough test against the solid Seahawks, who are coming off their bye. The Raiders defence will have a lot tougher time, too, facing Geno Smith rather than a flustered Russell Wilson.

L.A. Chargers -4.5 over ARIZONA

These four- and five-point lines are the ones that usually produce upsets, but there’s a lot not to like about the Cards. Kyler Murray might be back, but how effective will he be coming off a hamstring injury? Arizona is second-worst in the league in DVOA while the Chargers should have Keenan Allen at closer to 100% than last week.

KANSAS CITY -14.5 over L.A. Rams

The champions are having one of the worst title defences ever and injuries certainly aren’t helping. L.A. is going to be without their best QB, RB and WR, and has little hope of keeping up with the Chiefs.

SAN FRANCISCO -9.5 over New Orleans

It was fairly easy for Jimmy G to get in a groove against a Cardinals team in turmoil and it’s not like the Saints have been much better when facing good opponents. While Andy Dalton and Co. beat up on the Rams, they lost their previous two games by double digits and it could easily happen again here.

Green Bay +7 over PHILADELPHIA

Aaron Rodgers is playing with a broken thumb, apparently, and we’re still backing him? Sure, when you consider the Eagles have been in a bit of a slump after suffering some key injuries. Without rookie DT Jordan Davis, the run defence has been a bit weaker, and Dallas Goedert’s absence has hurt the offence. Philly should win but it might be tight.

Pittsburgh +2.5 over INDIANAPOLIS

First of all, bet the under on this one. Second, neither team is exactly begging to be picked. But with T.J. Watt back in the lineup, the Steelers defence should have Matt Ryan under pressure most of the game and forced into the mistakes he so commonly makes.
