NFL WEEK 16 PICKS: Bengals ready to roar in New England

The lines are from covers.com and the home teams are in CAPs.

Jacksonville +1.5 over NEW YORK JETS

Zach Wilson is going to go down as an all-time bust.

New York Giants +4 over MINNESOTA

Which team is in for letdown? Both picked up some emotional wins last week thanks to some big mistakes. While the Vikes have been the kings of one-score games this season, the Giants have been stellar against the spread and can keep this within a field goal.

CLEVELAND -2.5 over New Orleans

As rusty as Deshaun Watson has been since returning from his sexual misconduct suspension, it’s hard to expect much from the Saints in this one. The weather is going to be frigid and incredibly windy, which does not bode well for a struggling dome team.

Detroit -2.5 over CAROLINA

It is hard to not like the Lions right now. They’re doing everything you need to win and came up with a W in a similar situation to this one last week – on the road against a tough defence and a questionable QB.

Cincinnati -3 over NEW ENGLAND

Joe Burrow and the Bengals have the eye of the tiger while the Pats limp down the stretch. The Pats are in trouble, with six of their seven wins coming against backup QBs. The only hesitation we have with this line is that Cincy has a few injury concerns, but that shouldn’t slow them down.

CHICAGO +9 over Buffalo

The Bills may keep racking up wins, but are under .500 when measured against the spread this season. Justin Fields has been electric and will be tough to stop. The Bears certainly can keep it close.

Houston +4.5 over TENNESSEE

Yes, we know how much pain Derrick Henry has inflicted against the Texans over the past few seasons and even did so with Malik Willis at QB earlier this season. But Houston has started to come together and put the pressure on some real contenders over the past two weeks.

Seattle +10 over KANSAS CITY

Like the Bills, the Chiefs seemingly only have interest in winning games, not covering the spread. Seattle is still in a fight for the playoffs and will be a tough out.

Atlanta +7.5 over BALTIMORE

Rookie QB Desmond Ridder will face a serious test in the Ravens defence here, but the real question is can the Ravens really put up enough points to win by more than a TD? This should be an ugly, ground-and-pound, low-scoring type of game.

SAN FRANCISCO -7 over Washington

The 49ers have been on an excellent run and haven’t lost a step since Brock Purdy stepped up into the QB1 role. Washington is no easy opponent, but are outmatched in this one.

Philadelphia +4.5 over DALLAS

So, it’s officially Gardner Minshew against the Cowboys – and that shouldn’t matter in the end. Dallas has been struggling since being hit hard by the injury bug. Dak Prescott has been fairly average and the run game will have a tough time getting going against the Eagles defence.

Las Vegas +2.5 over PITTSBURGH

The Raiders capitalized on the Patriots’ massive mistake last week and will be facing a motivated Steelers team you will be emotionally charged after the death of team legend Franco Harris. Kenny Pickett’s return is an upgrade over Mitchell Trubisky, as well.

Green Bay +4 over MIAMI

Is Miami really a certain playoff team? This losing streak has exposed some flaws for the Dolphins and the Packers – with all of their pedigree and talent – could exploit them.

Denver -2.5 over L.A. RAMS

We saw what we expected from Baker Mayfield on Monday night and now he has to face the tough task of breaking down the Broncos defence. It is pretty hard to back this Denver squad and spot some points, though. Tough call.

Tampa Bay -6.5 over ARIZONA

The Bucs have been awful against the spread and the Cardinals have been awful at home. With Trace McSorely making his first career start, we’ll fade Arizona against Tom Brady and Co.

L.A. Chargers -4 over INDIANAPOLIS

The Colts have turned to Nick Foles now, benching Matt Ryan again. And, while you can give them credit for going up 33-0 against Minnesota before blowing it, that was largely luck rather than a repeatable feat. The Chargers are getting healthier and should cruise.

Last week: 8-7-1
