While Blue Jays fans are hoping that the roster will get a bit of a facelift this off-season, at least one big renovation is well underway.
The Rogers Centre’s lower bowl looks unrecognizable in pictures posted online by Blue Jays fan account @TBJLive.
All of the seating has been removed from the 100 level and demolition has commenced on the support structures and concrete below.
Construction had gotten underway soon after the Blue Jays suffered their wild-card defeat, being swept away by the Minnesota Twins amid much disappointing and consternation about pitching decisions and Vlad Guerrero Jr.’s untimely brainfart, getting picked off at second base at a key point in Game 2.
The stadium formerly known as the SkyDome is undergoing its biggest renovation since opening 1989 with the hopes that turning the venue into one that is more dedicated to baseball helps with the fan experience. In turn, ticket prices for the 2024 season also have seen another increase.
The Rogers Centre had renovated the outfield seating areas in the 200 and 500 levels last off-season and received good reviews from fans.
