NFL WEEK 15 PICKS: Browns’ black-and-blue defence can’t contain Justin Fields

The lines are from Sportsbook Review and the home teams are in CAPs.

LAS VEGAS -3 over L.A. Chargers

Of all the possible predictions for this one, I bet nobody had “the Raiders score 42 by halftime and 63 overall.” If Brandon Staley isn’t gone by Monday, the Chargers clearly have no clue what they’re doing.

Minnesota +3 over CINCINNATI

It’s a testament to the Bengals coaching staff how well the team is adapting with Jake Browning at QB, but the Vikings are getting by just as well. Minnesota also has Justin Jefferson back in the fold despite the scary hit he took last week and its defence has been great.

INDIANAPOLIS -1.5 over Pittsburgh

Firing Matt Canada gave the Steelers offence a one-week boost which has now worn off. Mitchell Trubisky is exactly the disappointment that we remember him being in Chicago.

Denver +4.5 over DETROIT

The Broncos sure have shaken off that early season slump with just one loss in their past seven games and that was by just five points against the Texans. The Lions, are heading in the opposite direction, with their defence giving up at least 26 points in each of their past five games.

CAROLINA +3 over Atlanta

It’s never easy with the Falcons. Seven of their past eight contests have been one-score games and Arthur Smith’s coaching has been questionable to say the least. The Panthers have nothing to lose and shouldn’t be holding back against a rival.

Chicago +3 over CLEVELAND*

The injuries continue to mount for Browns, who just lost their top tackler and second-best pass rusher. While wily vet Joe Flacco has impressed in his two starts, Justin Fields has some Bears fans questioning whether they need a new franchise QB. Chicago’s defence has been improving by the week since adding Montez Sweat and should at least keep the Browns close.

GREEN BAY -3.5 over Tampa Bay

When you have a young team like the Packers, sometimes you have growing-pain games like Monday night. Jordan Love and Co. need to bounce back against the pedestrian Bucs to stay in the wild-card race.

TENNESSEE -3 over Houston

The Texans are getting beat up on offence and likely won’t have C.J. Stroud for this one after suffering a concussion last week. The Titans may be bringing up the rear of their division, but have some exciting pieces in place and certainly have a chance to play spoiler.

New York Giants +6 over NEW ORLEANS

The Saints may be tied for the NFC South division lead, but have the third-worst record against the spread in the league. Tommy DeVito is looking like a lot more than just a joke and has give the Giants some rel spunk.

New York Jets +8.5 over MIAMI

Injuries have taken a big toll on the Dolphins, losing their starting centre and seeing Tyreek Hill and both RBs De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert hobbled. They’re on a short week and facing a division rival that will be eager to make up for a big loss earlier this season.

NEW ENGLAND +7.5 over Kansas City

Can the Chiefs channel their frustration after another self-inflicted loss? It might actually be tough against the Patriots’ strong defence. Isiah Pacheco’s absence was felt by the struggling offence and we’re not sure K.C. has the horses to cover a big number like this in what should be a low-scoring game.

San Francisco +12.5 over ARIZONA

At this point, the 49ers would need to be spotting at least 14 points for us to consider going against this absolute powerhouse.

L.A. RAMS -6.5 over Washington

The Rams may have lost last week, but you couldn’t help but be impressed by their performance in Baltimore before losing in OT on a punt return that probably should’ve been called back. Washington is coming off its bye, but what are these Commanders really playing for?

BUFFALO -2 over Dallas

The Cowboys aren’t nearly the formidable force on the road that they are at home. They’re also coming off an emotional blowout over the Eagles to face a desperate Bills team. That the Bills are favoured against the red-hot Cowboys really shows that we should overlook the hosts.

Baltimore -3.5 over JACKSONVILLE

The Jaguars defence has been torn apart over the past two weeks, giving up 65 total points. Baltimore is getting an MVP performance from Lamar Jackson while the defence remains one of the league’s top-ranked units.

Philadelphia -4 over SEATTLE

It’s hard to handicap this one until knowing Geno Smith’s status for Monday night, but potentially backing Drew Lock is too risky. Philly is reeling after two huge losses and need to get back in the win column.

Last week: 6-8-1

This season: 98-104-6
