Sometimes, you just have to let out your frustrations – Bills fans know a thing or two about that.
After yet another heartbreaking loss in the playoffs, Bills fans at Highmark Stadium found a way to blow off some steam Sunday: Pelting the victorious Kansas City Chiefs with snowballs.
In particular, it was star QB Patrick Mahomes that looked like he was getting the worst of it from Bills Mafia.
The former MVP was seen running for cover post-game, trying to get off the field while protecting his head from incoming snowballs.
Some other members of the Chiefs were seen trying to catch snowballs fired their way as well, with Drue Tranquill not looking very tranquil. The linebacker said he caught a snowball coming his way and was ready to return fire, but it broke apart in his hand.
During the game, there were plenty of snow shenanigans, too. On a pass into the endzone during the first half, a snowball was thrown that missed Chiefs receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
With plenty of snow remaining in the stands from the multiple storms that have blanketed Buffalo and its surrounding areas over the past few weeks, fans couldn’t help but throw it up in the air in celebration – when things were going well for the home team.
Of course, the game came down to a late field goal by Bills kicker Tyler Bass, who pushed the game-tying attempt wide right – cue the heartbreak.
Post-game, Travis Kelce also was seen waving to the crowd and blowing a kiss – and not in the direction of girlfriend Taylor Swift. Despite the taunting, Kelce did say post-game that he has a lot of respect for the team and its hard-done-by fans.
“I got a lot of respect, not only for this team, but this organization, this fan base,” Kelce told Westwood One Sports after the game. “It was an unbelievable environment. Just really proud of the guys I came here with to fight through it and get a win there in the fourth quarter, it felt great.”
Next up for the Chiefs is a trip to Baltimore to face the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. A win there would put Mahomes, Kelce and Co. back in the Super Bowl for the second consecutive season.
