U.S. President Donald Trump took a little time out Monday to talk about some family business.
Specifically, he was asked how he felt about the recently revealed relationship between Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Don Jr.
Speaking from the Oval Office, the Commander in Chief says that he approves of the golf legend and his ex-daughter-in-law coupling up.
When Trump was asked about Woods potentially becoming a part of his extended family, the president was very supportive of the idea, declaring that “I love Tiger and I love Vanessa.”
He also spoke highly of Vanessa’s previous relationship with his son, which ended when she filed for divorce in 2018.
“Vanessa and Don had a very good relationship,” Trump said on Monday. “They have five incredible children. All good athletes, all great students. They broke up quite a while ago, which, to me, was very sad because I think they’re both great, Don and Vanessa.”
Trump also shared that Woods had called him “months ago” to tell the prez about himself and Vanessa.
“Tiger actually called me a few months ago. I have a special, very good relationship with Tiger. I played golf with him a couple of times over the past month and he’s a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete.
“He told me about it and I said, ‘Tiger, that’s good.’ I’m very happy for both (of them). Just let them both be happy.”
Woods made the relationship public last month, posting pictures of himself with Vanessa together on his X account.
“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together,” he wrote. “At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”
According a report by the Daily Mail, the 49-year-old golf legend and Vanessa, 47, had quietly begun seeing each around U.S. Thanksgiving.
The outlet also reported that Woods made the decision to make the relationship official after rumours started to spread around his children’s school in Palm Beach, Fla.
Tiger’s love life has been a well-documented roller-coaster ride since he took the golfing world by storm in the 1990s. He began dating former Swedish model and Elin Nordegren in 2004 and the power couple stayed married from 2004 to 2010, before they divorced.
They have two children together — son Charlie, 16, and daughter Sam, 17. Charlie is trying to follow in dad’s footsteps as a professional golfer.
Tiger’s marriage to Nordegren famously went off the rails in 2009 when a sex scandal revealed he was dating New York City nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel. As if things couldn’t get worse, more than 10 other women came forward as well, saying they also had affairs with him. Tiger then checked himself into a sex addiction rehab clinic to try and get his life back on track.
Since his divorce, the golfer has also dated skier Lindsay Vonn from 2013 to 2015 and Erica Herman from 2017 to 2022.
