With No.1 overall pick Blake Griffin undergoing season-ending surgery, what more evidence do you really need that the Los Angeles Clippers are a cursed franchise? Just when they were lucky enough to land the top pick a can’t-miss prospect, he goes down with a knee injury in the pre-season. And since it was a stress fracture that he was originally dealing with, does that not remind anyone of how a former Clippers career was derailed by such an ailment, albeit in his feet? Bill Walton anyone?
Anyway, the Clips have somehow been over-performing this season and – if they were in the lousy Eastern Conference – could actually make the playoffs. How will they feel now knowing that help isn’t on the way? Hope can do a lot for a team, and when you’re the Clippers, there’s never really much of it to go around.
