NFL Thanksgiving picks

While our friends south of the border get to chow down on some delicious deep-fried turkey and stuffing, most of us Canadians are stuck working. Well, except for me because it’s my usual day off. Don’t consider me too lucky though, getting to stay home, watch 10 hours of quality football and having a couple of beer, I do have to write my fantasy column for the weekend’s paper. So, consider today “research.”

The lines are from 5Dimes and the home teams are in CAPS.

DETROIT +7 over Green Bay
Scoring 55 points against the Panther is one thing and the Packers are certainly another. I do, however, see the Lions keeping this one close and maybe even driving late to tie the game up. At the very least, Matt Stafford is good for a back-door cover.

Miami +7.5 over DALLAS
Both of these teams are hot, undefeated in their past three, but the Dolphins’ defence is playing lights out. They haven’t allowed a touchdown in three games, while the Cowboys needed OT to beat the Skins on Sunday. The Boys are bit banged up as well.

BALTIMORE -3 over San Francisco
First of all, I think that the Niners are a legit team and will most likely meet the Packers in the NFC final. But can the beat a strong team like the Ravens across the country on only three days rest? Also, the Niners’ streak of not allowing a rushing TD all season will come to an end tonight.

Last week: 7-7
This season: 79-80-2
