How can you not love Jeremy Lin? He’s the least likely superstar in the NBA and he’s literally blowing up the Internet. I’ll admit that I’m incredibly late to the party on Lin, but I’ve just got to throw some love his way.
Since starting to get significant minutes for the Knicks, Lin has been on fire. He has score at least 20 points in five straight games and netted an incredible 38 against the Lakers. Even in the game when he ‘only’ scored 20, he hit the the game-winning free throws.
It also helped that Carmelo Anthony got hurt and Amare Stoudemire missed a week after his brother’s death. But that’s beside the point; it really just means that Lin didn’t have any top-class help around him to ease the burden.
Lin, in case you haven’t seen him or couldn’t tell by his last name, is Asian. He’s actually the first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent. Something tells me that he’s going to be getting a LOT of overseas votes for the next all-star game.
He has also been cut from an NBA team — twice — in the past year. Both Golden State and Houston had him on their roster and shook him free.
We haven’t even gotten to my favourite part of Linsanity: He graduated from Harvard. Yes, the Ivy League’s Harvard.
How could you not love this guy?
One thing’s for certain, when he plays in Toronto on Tuesday night, it will be a lot more crowded in press row than usual.
