Looks like we only have two unbeaten teams left and really, shame on me for picking the Cardinals to go 5-0. Why did I think that Kevin Kolb could fight back when in the hole? Why didn’t I believe in the Rams defence? Why didn’t I remember the distinct home-field advantage that teams have on Thursday night games? Oh well, on to the rest of Week 5.
The odds are from Vegas and the home teams are in CAPS.
Atlanta -2.5 over WASHINGTON
The Redskins defence is absolutely awful and if they think they can stop Matt Ryan and Co., they’re nuts.
PITTSBURGH -3 over Philadelphia
The Steelers getting James Harrison and Troy Polamalu will jumpstart their defence. The Eagles have barely scraped by in their three wins and should lose this one to rested Pittsburgh.
Green Bay -7.5 over INDIANAPOLIS
The Colts are coming off a bye, but the Packers are starting to find their stride after a close win over New Orleans.
Cleveland +11 over NEW YORK GIANTS
This is exactly the type of game that the Giants blow at home. They’re favoured big, but will barely pull it out.
Tennessee +5.5 over MINNESOTA
The Vikings are good enough to win the game, but not good enough to win by almost a touchdown.
CINCINNATI -4 over Miami
Let’s not get too carried away with Ryan Tannehill’s performance last week. It was one for the ages that won’t happen again.
Baltimore -4.5 over KANSAS CITY
The Chiefs have some real problems on offence and defence. Starting to regret taking them to win the division.
CAROLINA -2.5 over Seattle
The sad truth is that Cam Newton can’t beat good teams, but the Seahawks aren’t good on the road.
Chicago -5.5 over JACKSONVILLE
If the Bears can pick off Tony Romo five times and shut down the Cowboys’ offence, what do you think they can do to Blaine Gabbert and Co.?
Denver +7.5 over NEW ENGLAND
Prediction: The Pats build up a big lead early, Peyton Manning rallies the troops to cover the spread with a late TD.
SAN FRANCISCO -11 over Buffalo
The Niners offence is not as good as the Patriots, but their defence is top-notch. The Bills should have trouble moving the ball out by the bay.
San Diego +4 over NEW ORLEANS
If this was a 1 p.m. start, I’d probably take the Saints, but it’s the Sunday nighter. West coast teams have the edge in these games historically, regardless of competition, so take the points.
Houston -9 over NEW YORK JETS
The Jets are complete mess right now while the Texans are one of the top two teams in the league, if not the best. Could this be Mark Sanchez’s last start for the Jets? Bring on Tebow!
This week: 0-1
