Last night we saw yet another reason why there should not be Thursday Night Football.
By the end of the game, both teams were using their backup quarterbacks after the starters went of injured. The Browns may have even lost Brian Hoyer – who has been a revelation so far – for the season with a torn ACL. EJ Manuel hurt his right knee and will have an MRI today to reveal the damage.
This comes on the same day when the NFL made a statement touting how safe the league is.
Get your head out of your ass, Roger Goodell.
Every time you force teams to play these atrocities on Thursday nights, you’re putting your players at risk. Football is a physical game and these guys need that midweek downtime to recover.
If you want to have these “Prime Time†games, make it so the teams playing are coming off their bye week. That would ensure that not only are we seeing the teams at their finest, but also provides them with a safe work environment.
It’s a shame that again and again, the NFL cares more about the bottom line than its players.
The lines are from Vegas and the home teams are in CAPS
Kansas City -3 over TENNESSEE
Poor Titans, getting on a role and then losing Jake Locker for 4-8 weeks. Ryan Fitzpatrick will be hopeless against the Chiefs defence.
MIAMI -3 over Baltimore
The Ravens have proven that they are an average team at best on the road while the Dolphins only setback was a tough road game against the undefeated Saints.
ST. LOUIS -11.5 over Jacksonville
It looks like the Jags are really trying to throw away their season, trading away their starting left tackle and former first-round pick Eugene Monroe.
New England (pk) over CINCINNATI
We know the Pats have their problems and Cinci is probably better that its record, but should New England be favoured here?
Seattle -3 over INDIANAPOLIS
The Colts have looked good for two weeks, but played a very off San Francisco and the pathetic Jags. The Seahawks are the NFC’s best.
Detroit +7 over GREEN BAY
The Lions embarrass the Bears and are now getting seven points? Am I missing something?
CHICAGO +1 over New Orleans
Jimmy Graham has looked like the best player in football so far, but the Bears are a great team at home and shouldn’t be getting points.
Philadelphia +3 over NEW YORK GIANTS
This could either be the nail in the Giants coffin, or their launching pad to turning their season around. I think it’s more likely the former.
ARIZONA +2 over Carolina
I’m not sure why a lot of people are so in on the Cats. The Cards aren’t great, but it’s always good to take a home dog.
Denver -8 over DALLAS
Phil Rivers just lit up the Cowboys defence, do you really think they can stop Peyton Manning?
Houston +7 over SAN FRANCISCO
The Texans were devastated last week with that loss to the Seahawks, but were firmly in control of that game. I don’t see Matt Schaub throwing another ill-advised pick-six for the fourth straight week.
San Diego -4 over OAKLAND
Thanks to Saturday night’s baseball game, this one is being played at 11:35 p.m. EDT. It’s a shame because this one should be one high-scoring shootout.
ATLANTA -10 over New York Jets
The Falcons are a better team than their 1-3 record and need to step it up if they want to turn their season around.
This week: 1-0
Last week: 9-5-1
This season: 30-31-2
