NFL PICKS: Week 3 selections

The lines are from oddshark.com and the home teams in CAPs.

JACKSONVILLE +1.5 over Tennessee

The legend of Gardner Minshew II continues to grow.

Miami +21.5 over DALLAS

This should be another blowout loss for Miami, but one of these days, they’ll actually cover one of these ridiculous lines.

GREEN BAY -7.5 over Denver

The Packers kept trying to give away the game to Minnesota last week after jumping out to an early lead, but this team’s defence is for real. Giving more than a touchdown is a bit dicey, but how much do you want to trust Joe Flacco on the road to cover?

Baltimore +6.5 over KANSAS CITY

Patrick Mahomes might be even better this season than last year’s MVP campaign, but Lamar Jackson has made one hell of a sophomore jump. Sure, Jackson has picked apart a couple of low-end teams, but it’s not like the Chiefs defence is going to scare him.

MINNESOTA -8.5 over Oakland

We can’t lie: The Raiders haven’t been bad so far this season. But the Vikings run game is on fire and Kirk Cousins is capable of stepping it up against mediocre opponents.

Cincinnati +6 over BUFFALO

Is it time for a Bills letdown or are they really going to go 3-0? At the very least, six points seems a bit high to give with a team that has only beaten the New York disasters.

INDIANAPOLIS -1.5 over Atlanta

The Falcons came through on Sunday night, but by no means looked good doing it against a severely banged-up Eagles team. Indy is just a few missed kicks from being 2-0 and isn’t even giving the standard three points at home here.

NEW ENGLAND -23 over New York Jets

Last week, the Patriots showed they won’t be taking it easy against inferior opponents and the Jets certainly fall into that category. Luke Falk will be in tough against an extraordinary New England defence.

ARIZONA (NL) over Carolina

The Cards are trending up after a close loss to Baltimore. Even if Cam Newton plays, he hasn’t looked remotely good so far this season. Kliff Kingsbury’s game management is a concern, but his could get his first win here.

New York Giants +6.5 over TAMPA BAY

The Daniel Jones era begins … with a cover? Look, anybody is better than Eli Manning at this point and Saquon Barkley will be a handful for the Bucs to contain. And giving almost a TD with Jameis Winston is always a dicey proposition.

Houston +3 over L.A. CHARGERS

Another week, another injury for the Chargers with starting safety Adrian Phillips down. Deshaun Watson could be on the run again this week, but the Texans array of WRs should feast on the banged-up secondary.

SEATTLE -4 over New Orleans

Teddy Bridgewater won’t be as bad as he was in relief with a week to prepare for this one. But there’s something that bothered us about this game: Instead of staying on the west coast after a late afternoon game in L.A., the Saints flew back to New Orleans and now are flying cross-country again to Seattle. That’s a lot of air miles.

Pittsburgh +6.5 over SAN FRANCISCO

Could this be the beginning of the Mason Rudolph era? He looked decent in relief last week and the 49ers aren’t too tough of a matchup. Pittsburgh is clearly all-in on him after dealing their first-round pick this week for Minkah Fitzpatrick, who should provide a nice boost.

L.A. Rams -3 over CLEVELAND

The Browns benefitted greatly from some terrible play by the Jets offence on Monday, but can’t expect the same from the high-powered Rams. Again, home dogs haven’t been profitable so far this season, so we’ll follow the trend.

WASHINGTON +3.5 over Chicago

Mitchell Trubisky is a problem. He’s truly holding the Bears back from possibly contending. Can he win a game by more than a field goal on the road? It’s a big doubt.

Last week: 8-8

This season: 15-17
