NFL Mock Draft: Lawrence leads the way

The Super Bowl is in the books and the draft is now less than two months away. This off-season has potential for a lot of player movement, including several starting QBs on the move and picks trading places.

1. Jacksonville

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

Seems like the only lock of the draft. Lawrence has been touted as a top pick since coming into college.

2. New York Jets

Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

With trade rumours swirling involving Sam Darnold, it’s looking increasingly likely the Jets will go QB here.

3. Miami

DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

The Dolphins could look to reunite Tua Tagovailoa with his college teammate and reigning Heisman winner.

4. Atlanta

Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

With a new coach and a draft opportunity like this one, the Falcons should start planning for life after Matt Ryan.

5. Cincinnati

Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

When it comes to prioritizing protecting Joe Burrow and getting him weapons, his health should paramount.

6. Philadelphia

Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Is a QB in play here if/when Wentz is dealt? It’s probably too early to move on from Jalen Hurts and Chase is a special player.

7. Detroit

Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern

The Lions want to rebuild as a rough and tough team, so there’s no better place to start than in the trenches.

8. Carolina

Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

The Panthers may be in the market for another vet QB, but Lance could develop into a star.

9. Denver

Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan

Von Miller’s future is cloudy, which would leave a huge hole in the Broncos pass rush.

10. Dallas

Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

The Cowboys have many options here, but their pass defence has been a big weakness for years.

11. New York Giants

Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

Evan Engram has been disappointing, to say the least, and Pitts has top-five talent.

12. San Francisco

Caleb Fairley, CB, Virginia Tech

The Niners will be in a cap crunch and will need a lot of reinforcements at defensive back.

13. Los Angeles Chargers

Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT, USC

Even if he struggles at LT in the pros, has the versatility to excel elsewhere on the line.

14. Minnesota

Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami

The Vikes have a lot of holes to fill, but Rousseau has excellent athleticism and sky-high potential.

15. New England

Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Could look at Bama QB Mac Jones, but Parsons is the type of versatile LB the Pats would love to build around.

16. Arizona

Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

With Patrick Peterson on his way out, the Cards need to freshen up their CB corps in the off-season.

17. Las Vegas

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame

Listed as a LB, but can also excel as a slot corner or even at safety. One of the draft’s most versatile defenders.

18. Miami

Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

Might lack experience, but he’s a big-play threat and should test as one of the fastest players in the draft.

19. Washington

Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech

We’re not sure what direction they go at QB, but Washington has some holes opening up on the O-line.

20. Chicago

Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida

If this pick isn’t dealt to the Eagles for Carson Wentz, the Bears should use it to replace top WR Allen Robinson.

21. Indianapolis

Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

The Colts have been eyeing a veteran QB to replace Rivers, but Jones could be their long-term answer.

22. Tennessee

Azeez Ojulari, OLB, Georgia

The Titans defence – and pass rush in particular – is in serious need of an upgrade, which this potential star would provide.

23. New York Jets

Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

The Tigers star will be a three-down back for any team – and no one needs that more than the Jets.

24. Pittsburgh

Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

The Steelers don’t usually take RBs this high, but Harris has potential to be Derrick Henry – plus receiving talent.

25. Jacksonville

Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama

The Jags have some talented edge rushers, but need to upgrade their defensive interior, among other things.

26. Cleveland

Jaelen Phillips, DE, Miami

Would provide a solid bookend to Myles Garrett, who commands double teams every play.

27. Baltimore

Carlos Basham Jr., DE Wake Forest

The Ravens have a couple of key edge rushers entering free agency, creating a big need on defence.

28. New Orleans

Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

With no good QB option available here, the Saints take this big middle linebacker who plays well in coverage.

29. Green Bay

Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU

The Packers finally take an offensive weapon who would make life easier for Aaron Rodgers.

30. Buffalo

Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri

May look into upgrading their run game, but defence took a step back this year and Matt Milano is a UFA.

31. Kansas City

Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State

The Chiefs O-line depth was put to the test and failed miserably. It should be a top priority this off-season.

32. Tampa Bay

Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State

The Bucs just won the Super Bowl on the strength of their D-line, but there are age and cap issues coming.
