The lines are from oddsshark.com and the home teams are in CAPS.
WASHINGTON -3 over New York Giants
We’ve been pretty lucky so far in getting some darn exciting prime time contests, eh?
New Orleans -3.5 over CAROLINA
The Saints impressed with their blowout win over the Packers last week, but we could certainly see them come down to earth a bit here. Jameis isn’t likely to be as efficient, but he can still score a win here.
CLEVELAND -12.5 over Houston
The Texans are a good candidate to pull what the Jags did last year – win in Week 1 and then lose out. The Browns hung with the Chiefs last week and have the type of dominant ball-control game that will punish the Texans.
Cincinnati +2 over CHICAGO
Sure, this is a home game for the Bears, but when most of the crowd is going to be jeering your starting QB, does that help?
PITTSBURGH -5.5 over Las Vegas
The Raiders won a wild one on Monday night and showed some good signs for the season. On the other hand, the Steelers’ faithful are going to be wild and this team locked down the Bills, a supposed contender in the opener.
MIAMI +3.5 over Buffalo
The Dolphins eked out a win against the Pats and their reward is getting more than a field goal at home against another division rival. While we wouldn’t be surprised to see Josh Allen light it up, we figure this to be a close game.
L.A. Rams -4 over INDIANAPOLIS
The Colts looked flat and couldn’t stop the Seahawks passing game in Week 1, which doesn’t bode well for them with the Rams and their high-powered offence coming to town.
PHILADELPHIA +3.5 over San Francisco
The Niners are the superior team here, but suffered some injury setbacks last week before almost falling apart against the Lions. The Eagles don’t deserve to be getting this many points at home.
Denver -6 over JACKSONVILLE
Here’s a rule that you should follow: When a head coach is reportedly questioning his commitment after just one game, you probably shouldn’t bet on them when a team that looks pretty decent comes to town.
New England -6 over NEW YORK JETS
Bill Belichick has owned rookie QBs and the Jets over his coaching career – and he gets both of those things this week. The Jets lost their best lineman in Week 1 and will have trouble in pass protection.
ARIZONA -4 over Minnesota
In the opener, Kyler Murray looked like the guy who was in the running for MVP last season before hurting his shoulder. And, with Chandler Jones looking like a beast, the Cards might be for real.
Atlanta +12.5 over TAMPA BAY
After a Week 1 dud, the Falcons need to show up against their division rival here. If they lose a two-score game to the Bucs, many questions will already start to get asked about Arthur Smith and Matt Ryan.
SEATTLE -5 over Tennessee
Have Derrick Henry and the Titans offence finally hit the wall? Or is it a matter of downgrading their OC after Smith left? There’s cause for concern and it’s hard to expect Tennessee gets it on track in Seattle.
Dallas +3 over L.A. CHARGERS
The Cowboys have had some extra time to prepare and should have a good amount of fans in the stands in L.A., negating one of the Chargers’ advantages. This one could be a shootout, so we’ll take the points to be safe.
BALTIMORE +3.5 over Kansas City
The Ravens need to bounce back after that ridiculous Monday nighter and getting more than a FG at home against the Chiefs team that often has its line inflated seems like a decent bet.
GREEN BAY -11 over Detroit
A good remedy for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to forget about that Week 1 beating is to take it out on a team they’ve dominated for years, while playing in front of their home fans.
Last week: 10-6
This season: 10-6
