The lines are from covers.com and the home teams are in CAPs.
San Francisco -3 over SEATTLE
The 49ers are doing exactly what they need to do to win with Brock Purdy at QB: Control the game with their defence, don’t ask him to do too much and just give the ball to Christian McCaffrey.
Indianapolis +4 over MINNESOTA
The Vikings have been in a funk and have rightfully seen their value diminish in the eyes of sportsbooks. While the Colts certainly have their problems, they come into this one off a bye and should have plan on how to attack the woeful Minnesota defence.
Baltimore +2.5 over CLEVELAND
If there’s one thing the Browns do very poorly, it’s defend against the run – which is exactly what the Ravens offence does best. Even worse for the hosts, Baltimore’s defence has been outstanding against the run and should have Deshaun Watson under pressure.
BUFFALO -7.5 over Miami
Are the Bills flying a bit under the radar, having won four straight and with three of them by eight or more points? Either way, the Dolphins should be miserable playing in the freezing conditions of Orchard Park on Saturday night.
Atlanta +4 over NEW ORLEANS
The Falcons are looking to the future with Desmond Ridder taking over Marcus Mariota, which should provide an advantage here coming off their bye week. The Saints are also coming off their bye, but their all-around struggles have been well-documented.
NEW YORK JETS -1 over Detroit
The Lions are on a roll and have an unlikely playoff spot in their sights. But the Jets are just an awful matchup for Jared Goff and Co. Goff struggles on the road, against teams that play mostly man coverage and are good against play action – all things the Jets excel at.
Kansas City -14 over HOUSTON
Let’s not go out running to the window to back a Texans team that nearly shocked the Cowboys last week. The Chiefs won’t let their guard down like Dallas did and should run away with an easy win.
CHICAGO +9 over Philadelphia
A week off should have Justin Fields much closer to 100% after his recent shoulder injury. While the Eagles are flying high, they could have their sights set ahead with the Cowboys on deck. While Philly should no doubt get the win in the Windy City, a backdoor cover may be in the works.
CAROLINA -2.5 over Pittsburgh
The Panthers have been excellent since firing Matt Rhule, having gone 6-1 against the spread under Steve Wilks. They’ve also started to pound the ball on the ground, using extra tight ends – something the Steelers struggle mightily against.
JACKSONVILLE +4 over Dallas
There are a few things not to like about the Cowboys in this one, despite a clear talent advantage. Dallas has an incredibly important date with the Eagles next week and could be looking ahead. It also has a very banged-up secondary and lost their starting RT last week. We’ve just seen the Cowboys eke out a win over the lowly Texans, too. This one could be closer than you expect.
Arizona +2.5 over DENVER
Could it be Colt McCoy vs. Trevor Siemian? Both teams are in pretty rough shape right now, but we’ll give McCoy the edge with a couple of points tacked on. At least he has DeAndre Hopkins to help change the game.
LAS VEGAS +1 over New England
Former protégés have a pretty good record when going up against Bill Belichick. Vegas also has a big talent advantage at the skill positions, especially with the numerous injuries the Pats suffered on Monday night.
L.A. CHARGERS -3 over Tennessee
Is this another situation where the Chargers looked good, so they’ll pull the rug out from under us? We don’t think so. With the team actually getting healthy and Justin Herbert having his full complement of receivers to throw to, it will be hard for the ailing Titans to stop them.
Cincinnati -3.5 over TAMPA BAY
The Bucs have yet to cover a game at home this season and the Bengal have the best record against the spread this season. The Bengals are on fire and didn’t miss a step on offence with both Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd out last week.
WASHINGTON -4.5 over New York Giants
We just saw this matchup two weeks ago and it ended in a tie. What’s different here? Washington had a week off to recover and think things over while the Giants were beat up by the Eagles. That should tilt things in Washington’s favour this time out.
GREEN BAY -7 over L.A. Rams
While you have to be impressed by Baker Mayfield coming out last week and winning a game after joining the Rams just two days prior, let’s not forget that he’s not a very good QB. The Packers come off their bye and should have a few things better sorted out.
Last week: 7-6
This season: 99-103-6
