CHIEFS -8.5 over Jaguars
Andy Reid coming off a bye week is just about as automatic as it gets. The Chiefs had the best record in the AFC, but have been terrible against the spread this season, finishing with the fourth-worst record at 6-10-1. But this week is different. K.C. beat the Jags by 10 earlier this season in a game that wasn’t actually that close. Jacksonville had to post a legendary comeback to beat the Chargers last week and basically competed in a playoff game against the Titans in Week 18 just to make the post-season. That magic won’t carry over as they hit the road for a tough Chiefs team it just doesn’t measure up to.
Giants +7.5 over EAGLES
After their week off, the Eagles are looking like they’ll be nearly at full health, which is a scary proposition to bet against. But are the Giants a team of destiny? They are also getting healthy and played the Eagles very tight with just the backups on the field. While Daniel Jones impressed against the Vikings last week, this is a definite step up in competition. But, if Brian Daboll has proven anything, it’s that he’s a smart coach who can scheme to any opponent. The Giants will relish the role of underdogs and should be able to keep this game close as long as the Eagles don’t get out to a big lead.
Bengals +5.5 over BILLS
We were shockingly close from having to endure another week of watching the Ravens offence if that goal-line sneak actually worked out, but the Bengals endured over their rival. They’ll be heading to Buffalo for a rematch of the Damar Hamlin game, which should bring up a lot of emotion – especially if the Bills safety is in attendance. But the main thing we’re looking at is that the Bills haven’t been blowing out teams and Josh Allen is playing a bit too much hero ball. Without a true running game, there’s too much on his shoulders. On the other side, Joe Burrow will be under pressure behind a patchwork O-line, but that’s nothing new for him. We see this one being close either way, but the Bills move on.
49ERS -3.5 over Cowboys
The two biggest winners of wild-card weekend faceoff, but will this one actually be close? The 49ers have been incredible on both sides of the ball with the offence not missing a beat under Brock Purdy. With Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and others, there are just too many ways for coach Kyle Shanahan to attack any defence – even if this week’s opponent is lead by a resurgent Micah Parsons. And while Dak Prescott looked great against Tampa, the running game struggled and the Cowboys will be in tough against Nick Bosa and Co. And, if it comes down to it, how much can Dallas trust Brett Maher to make a big kick?
