NFL MOCK DRAFT: Jalen Carter’s arrest, combine results shake things up

The biggest story of the combine wasn’t Bryce Young’s size, it was a top defensive prospect being charged with reckless driving and being involved in a fatal accident. Who will take a chance on the potential stud now?

1. Chicago

Will Anderson Jr., DE, Alabama

Still sitting at No. 1, for now, the Bears are very much shopping this pick to QB-needy teams.

2. Houston

Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Weighing in at over 200 pounds should help alleviate some worries about his size.

3. Arizona

Tyree Wilson, DE, Texas Tech

Missed the combine due to a foot injury, but has the tape to be worthy of being picked this high.

4. Indianapolis

Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

Drawing Cam Newton comparisons and tested as one of the most athletic QBs ever at combine.

5. Seattle

Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia

Legal issues will need to be sorted out, but his talent and potential is worth the risk for Seattle.

6. Detroit

Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

Pass defence was a big concern for the Lions, so look for them to grab a top corner or edge rusher.

7. Las Vegas

C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

Should be in the market for a veteran QB, but need to also think about their future at the position.

8. Atlanta

Myles Murphy, DE, Clemson

A prospect who is on the younger side of things, Murphy has potential to be a star pass rusher.

9. Carolina

Will Levis, QB, Kentucky

Might need to move up to get him, but Levis could be the potential franchise QB Carolina craves.

10. Philadelphia

Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State

A big, long corner should inject some youth into a good, but aging defensive backfield.

11. Tennessee

Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State

With a rebuild looking likely in Tennessee, it would be smart to start with a cornerstone lineman.

12. Houston

Lukas Van Ness, DE, Iowa

Had a great showing at the combine and should fit well into DeMeco Ryans’ defensive front.

13. N.Y. Jets

Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern

His short arms are a concern, but he’s a polished prospect that could easily slide over to guard.

14. New England

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State

Was one of the few WRs that stood out at the combine and has been drawing rave reviews.

15. Green Bay

Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah

An excellent pass-catching TE, Kincaid could be a favourite target for Rodgers or Love.

16. Washington

Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

While there are quite a few needs in Washington, none is bigger than cornerback.

17. Pittsburgh

Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

Could also look to shore up the defence, but Jones would be a great value pick here and bolsters their line.

18. Detroit

Nolan Smith, OLB, Georgia

Blew away scouts at the combine and has vaulted into the first round on many draft boards.

19. Tampa Bay

Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh

Another winner at the combine, Kancey would help solidify an aging Bucs defensive front.

20. Seattle

Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU

With Tyler Lockett reaching the twilight of his career, the Seahawks should look for a successor.

21. L.A. Chargers

Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee

The Chargers are in desperate need of depth at WR and also need some speed at the position, too.

22. Baltimore

Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

With or without Lamar Jackson, the Ravens need to get some fresh WR talent in, ASAP.

23. Minnesota

Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas

With LB mainstay Erik Kendricks gone, the Vikings need a new force in the middle of the field.

24. Jacksonville

Brian Branch, S, Alabama

His versatility would be a great addition to a team looking to build on its playoff run.

25. New York Giants

O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida

The Giants could use some depth and talent on the offensive line in order to take the next step.

26. Dallas

Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame

An excellent all-around TE, Mayer could replace free agent Dalton Schultz and also help in run blocking.

27. Buffalo

Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

He’s one of the rare RBs whose talent and versatility can justify being a first-round selection.

28. Cincinnati

Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland

Could use some depth on the offensive line, but Banks had a great combine showing and fills a need.

29. New Orleans

Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson

Could use a big run-stuffer on their defensive front after allowing 4.5 yards per carry last year.

30. Philadelphia

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama

With Miles Sanders a free agent, the explosive Gibbs could step right into a starting role

31. Kansas City

Derick Hall, DE, Auburn

The champs have some key pass rushers hitting free agency, so replenishing depth will be important.
