Victor Wembanyama was already given opponents nightmares about driving to the hoop – now it’s only going to get worse.
The San Antonio Spurs rookie showed up to the team’s Halloween night game against the Phoenix Suns dressed as Slender Man, a fictional supernatural character that originated as an Internet meme and later made into a 2018 horror movie.
Wembanyama, who is 7-foot-4 and 210 pounds, fit the role to perfection, wearing a black suit and dress shoes with his face covered by gray spandex.
Several users on social media commented that Wembanyama “dressed up as himself.”
The Slender Man phenomenon was also blamed for a 2014 stabbing in Wisconsin, where two 12-year-old girls lured their friends into a forest and stabbed her 19 times in an attempt to appease the fictional character.
The victim survived and the two assailants were found not guilty by mental disease or defect and committed to mental health institutions for sentences of 25 years to life and 40 years to life.
As for Tuesday’s game, well, the Suns will be haunted by the French phenom’s Spurs for a while.
San Antonio came back from 20 points down to beat Phoenix 115-114 on the final basket of the game. Wembanyama had 18 points and eight rebounds in the win.
