Alphonso Davies reportedly is set to take another massive step in his career.
According to several reports, the Canadian left back has reached a verbal agreement to join Spanish giants Real Madrid either this summer or in 2025.
Davies is currently under contract with reigning German champion Bayern Munich until 2025 and Madrid is seeking to land the Canadian star at a below-market price this summer or wait until he is a free agent.
Reports of Davies’ interest to join Real Madrid began in October as Bayern has endured a tumultuous season under manager Thomas Tuchel, who recently announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
According to trusted soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish club has yet to reach out to negotiate a transfer price, but has agreed to personal terms with the player.
While Davies is amongst the biggest stars in the sport, his potential signing this summer may not be the biggest that Madrid reportedly will make.
The club reportedly has lined up the signature of French superstar Kylian Mbappe, who is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain and has been linked with Real Madrid for several years.
Davies has played six seasons with Bayern after joining the Bundesliga club from the Vancouver Whitecaps of MLS.
The 23-year-old has made 180 appearances for the club and has been touted as one of the best left backs in the world and was named to FIFA’s team of the year in 2020. With Bayern, he has won five Bundesliga championships, two DFB-Pokal cups, three DFL Supercups in Germany as well as the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2020.
