Conor McGregor is getting on the wagon ahead of his massive UFC comeback fight, if you are to believe a social-media post he wrote to Justin Bieber this weekend.
McGregor shared several photos of himself with the Canadian popstar having some fun in the sun — including a couple of snaps with the pair holding bottles of McGregor’s Proper No. 12 whiskey.
“My brother @justinbieber, the Mac has your back for life! From Beverly Hills to the Bahamas! See you in Vegas bro, it’s game on, the Mac is back!” McGregor posted on Instagram.
“Five more nights on the delicious and then that be that see ya’s tonight IM NOT F***ING LEAVING.”
While the former two-division UFC champ didn’t outright say it, it appears that he’ll be laying off the booze as he prepares for his fight against Michael Chandler.
UFC head honcho Dana White recently announced the date for the long-awaited fight, with the two fighting on June 29 at UFC 303 in Las Vegas an. The fight will be contested at welterweight.
McGregor has been known for his hard-partying ways during his down time which have often gotten him in trouble with the law. He has faced several assault and sexual assault allegations over the years but has yet to face any major charges.
He also has branched out into the alcohol business, with Proper No. 12 whiskey and Forged stout. He also owns a pub in Dublin, The Black Forge Inn, which was targeted by criminals with a petrol bomb in early 2022, but no one was hurt and no property was damaged.
He also raised a few eyebrows with his behaviour at the premiere for Road House — in which he has a supporting role opposite Jake Gyllenhaal — earlier this year, acting erratic during an interview.
McGregor is training for his return after almost three years away from the octagon. The Irishman’s most recent UFC outing was a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021 — a fight which ended when McGregor suffered a broken leg in the first round.
He recently told James Corden that his leg is better and even more dangerous than ever.
“God bless medical science. God bless my pockets, my net worth and, you know, being able to afford care at the highest, highest level. I had the best care,” McGregor said.
“I am ‘Terminator’ now. I have a titanium rod that goes into the knee and down to the bone, right down to my ankle. It’s unbreakable, so I have free reign to kick now, so I’m ready to go and I’m excited.
“I wish for and I will work for landing this kick with this steel bar in my leg against an opponent and getting them out of there.”
