Olympic champion Tessa Virtue and Leafs’ Morgan Rielly expecting first child

If there’s one thing for certain, this kid will be one heck of a skater.

Former Olympic figure skating champion Tessa Virtue and Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly have announced that they are expecting their first child.

Virtue took to Instagram on Tuesday to share some snaps of the couple from their gorgeous tropical getaway a few weeks ago.

“Some snaps from my favourites folder from a few weeks back, she captioned the album.

One snap, however, got a lot more attention than others — a selfie of Virtue standing in front of a mirror with a prominent baby bump.

The well wishes came pouring in on social media.

“Gorgeous. And congrats to you both!” one user wrote.

“Congratulations!!! You’re going to be the very best mama!” another commented.

“Yay! Congratulations you two! Wouldn’t be surprised if the little bean came out already wearing skates lol,” a third posted.

Virtue and Rielly were married earlier this year after reportedly dating since 2020. The two also share a dog named Zoe, who has been a frequent guest star on Virtue’s social media account.

The couple did not announce a due date for the newest addition to their family.

Virtue is a five-time Olympic medallist, winning three golds and two silvers while competing in three Winter Games. She competed in the ice dancing discipline with partner Scott Moir. She and Moir are the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history and the fourth most-decorated Canadian Olympians ever.

Rielly, who grew up in West Vancouver a Leafs fan, is the longest-tenured member on the team. He has played his entire NHL career with the Leafs since debuting in 2013.
