Jake Paul says Mike Tyson’s health scare won’t shut down fight

It’s going to take more than an ulcer acting up to get the towel thrown in this summer’s blockbuster fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

During a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, Tyson reportedly “became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing,” his publicist’s office said in a statement.

“Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,” the statement said. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

On Tuesday, Paul fired back on social media to deny rumours that the fight was off.

“You love to make s*** up before knowing the facts for clicks/likes. Nothing changed,” Paul wrote on X.

The boxing match between Paul and Tyson is set to be broadcast live on Netflix on July 20 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

If for any reason the 58-year-old Tyson can’t make the fight, another controversial boxer seems ready to step into the ring with Paul.

Ryan Garcia posted on X that he’d be willing to face Paul if the legend can’t fight, saying “If Mike can’t fight I’ll sub in.”

He also posted a screenshot of a DM conversation between himself and Paul in which he says “If you down to fight, if Mike can’t do it, let me know I will fill in.”

Last month, it was announced that the bout between Paul and Tyson has been officially sanctioned and will go down as a professional matchup.

That means that the result will be reflected on both boxers’ professional records, which would not have been the case had the fight been held as exhibition – which was originally the belief.

Tyson confirmed on social media that the fight has been sanctioned, posting: “I wasn’t joking when I said this would be a real fight.”

It will be the Tyson’s first professional fight since 2005, when he lost to Kevin McBride due to retirement. The former world heavyweight champion has a professional record of 50-6-2.
