There’s a saying that a game of golf is a good walk spoiled, but this round certainly went well beyond that.
Police in West Kelowna, B.C., reportedly are investigating after a wild brawl broke out on a golf course.
According to Global News, West Kelowna RCMP were called to the Two Eagles Golf Course on Monday evening after reports of a disturbance.
A video of the incident was posted on social media on Wednesday, showing two groups of golfers having a heated argument before the fight broke out.
“It’s Monday night f***ing golf. You in a rush? Where you gotta be? You hit it up our ass all day,” one golfer is heard saying in the clip.
As the two groups of four golfers each argued, one wearing what appears to be a light blue shirt and black hat knocks a golf club out the hand of a man wearing a bright blue shirt. After some shoving, punches are thrown by the two men before the man in bright blue removes the shirt of the other man.
That’s when things get nasty. After the now-shirtless man takes a wild backhand swing, the golfer in bright blue connects with a solid punch to his face, knocking the shirtless man to the ground.
The shirtless man returns to his feet with his nose appearing to be bloodied and then walks away from the scene after taking another punch squarely in the face.
Another man wearing a long-sleeved shirt then comes in and begins to scrap with the man in bright blue before the two are separated.
“What is wrong with you?” a woman wearing a black shirt who was part of the first group is heard yelling. “Grow the f*** up, you don’t hit innocent people!”
Arguments between the two groups continue until they begin to walk in separate directions.
According to Reddit user meme__machine, who posted the clip on the site, the confrontation stemmed from one of the groups playing too slowly in front of the other.
The reddit post also alleged that the group with the man in the blue shirt had been hitting their balls towards the slower-playing group and that the man who had his shirt removed also had his jaw broken during the fight.
The cameraperson was in a third group and was allowed to play through. During the recording, a woman can be heard asking her partner to try to deescalate the “wild” situation, but he declines.
According to Global News, the golf course confirmed the incident and said that it called police immediately after being informed of it.
The outlet also reported that Mounties have identified everyone involved and that the investigation is ongoing.
Police added they had seen the video and describing it as “nothing short of unacceptable behaviour.”
Last fall, a dangerous fight broke out at a Vancouver-area golf course during which a man smashed a club over another golfer’s head on video.
Police were called to a golf course in Burnaby, B.C., in October after an altercation which led to an intoxicated golfer being arrested for smashing a driver over another player’s head, with the incident caught on video.
In a video taken at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course posted to X by BCTV, a golfer wearing a pink shirt can heard saying, “You hit f***ing towards me.”
WARNING: Graphic language
The other golfer, wearing a white hat and dark-coloured shirt, walked toward him and replied, “Do you want to f***ing toy with me?” He then raised his right arm while holding a driver and apparently nailed the first man with a loud thud being heard in the clip.
“What is f—ing wrong with you?” one of the golfers on the course can be heard saying. “Call the f***ing cops!”
Another in a black shirt and hat then approached the alleged assailant to calm him down, asking him to drop the club, which no longer had the head attached to the shaft following the violent swing.
After a brief time curled up on the ground, the golfer in the pink shirt appeared able to get to his feet and walk away under his own power.
Cops told Burnabynow that the 43-year-old suspect was intoxicated and arrested on the scene with no further incident at the course.
The suspect now faces possible assault with a weapon charges among others. He has since been released pending a court date.
The outlet also reported that the victim sustained only minor injuries.
