Well you didn’t have to be clairvoyant to see that the Lakers would be getting more calls in Los Angeles en route to their win than they did at Boston for games 1 and 2. It wasn’t as if the Lakers had as much of an advantage as Boston had at home, but at least the game was called seemingly fair — or at least fairer than the previous meetings. And now, just so we’re clear on this: when the refs call the game down the middle, the Lakers are the better team.
Where the hell are Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol? A combined 13 points from your no. 2 and 3 scorers will not win you ball games very often. If not for my boy Sasha (20 points including a three-point dagger in the clutch) the game wouldn’t have even been close. And of course, Kobe was Kobe back in LakerLand.
Boston may have a problem if Rajon Rondo can’t play more minutes on that mildly sprained ankle. Eddie House and Sam Cassell would be a huge downgrade for the Celts. Speaking of injured Celtics, how in the hell does Paul Pierce maintain that his knee is hurting when he can leap and bound through courtside seats for a ball without aggravating anything? This only makes it more certain that he faked his “knee pop” injury in game one. Liar.
And how fitting that — according to game-rigger extradonaire Tim Donaghy — it turns out that referees have helped alter games in the past. The shouldn’t be looking into the past about this problem, they should be turning on their televisions and watching live.
