The Rubio saga evolves

It looks like Spanish sensation and property of the Minnesota T-Wolves, Ricky Rubio, has decided that even if he’s not going to come to the NBA, he still wants to leave his current team, DKV Juventut.

This comes about a day after a marketing “expert” said that Rubio could make a lot of money from advertising in the States. To that, I say, “Seriously?!?” A good looking, international, young and talented athlete would make some coin from advertisors in North America? I never would have thought that.

So, his options after working out the reported $6.6-million Joventut buyout are to either sign with Minnesota and toil in mediocrity while learning the NBA game, or sign in Europe where both Barcelona and Real Madrid are chasing him. What he’ll do, only he knows, but knowing how much cash the soccer equivalents of Real and Barca have been throwing around this summer, chances are pretty good we won’t get to witness Rubio’s greatness this fall. Except on Youtube that is.
