From the potential best division in all of football, we go to one of the worst with the sad, sad AFC West; a division that’s perpetually rebuilding – well, except for the perennially dominant Chargers. The Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders all have different coaches from last year’s training camp and will be looking to build towards the future, not so much going for it this year.
San Diego Chargers (Last season: 8-8).
Again, the Chargers will trot out on of the most talented roster of players in the league. Again, the Chargers will be led by a coach who won’t be able to take them the Super Bowl and will inevitably choke when the pressure’s on. But the regular season in this division doesn’t pack a lot of pressure so expect good things from San Diego.
Predicted Record: 11-5.
Denver Broncos (Last season: 8-8).
The Mile-high team wasn’t looking so good with their all-pro receiver in the fold. Without Brandon Marshall out there to haul in Kyle Orton’s wobblers, the team will be even worse.
Predicted Record: 6-10.
Oakland Raiders (Last season: 5-11).
The Raiders will be just as dysfunctional as they have been since their Super Bowl run with Rich Gannon and Co. many years ago. The weird thing about drafting Darius Heyward-Bey over Michael Crabtree — which was a widely panned draft day move — is that Crabtree might not even play this year because he’s an idiot. Jamarcus Russell has to start pulling it together and at least look competent or he’ll start being in the argument for Biggest Bust Ever after this season.
Predicted Record: 6-10.
Kansas City Chiefs (Last season: 2-14).
It’s going to be a rebuilding season for the Chiefs — again. With Matt Cassell already injured (albeit minor) and the offensive coordinator already fired, this could be a really rough season in the midwest. While incoming GM Scott Pioli is a great evaluator of talent and will be able to build a winner, it won’t be this season.
Predicted Record: 5-11.
